Heard this rumor on the Rodney Harrison radio show.

Can we beat that offer without giving up #1 pick?

That's it? Pacers will actually make that move? Idk why they would.

I'm sure they'd want back picks and other young assets.

Would need to be a 3-team deal IMO. Scary thought if the Cavs could pull this off though..  :o

Somebody playing with the trade machine....but yeah, Cavs could do a variety of things--and LeBron will start working the phones on Tuesday.

Melo makes more sense though, money/contract wise.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Think a 3-team trade a more likely scenario than a Love-George swap. Pacers will need to rebuild if they lose PG and that seems a foregone conclusion. Love doesn't help that. They can't be too picky, but Pacers have the leverage of waiting until the trading deadline. We could be that 3rd team in theory given our asset stockpile and I would think Love would find such a deal acceptable.

Love to Boston
George to cle
Zeller, ,AB, Crowder, picks(hopefully not brk)

I don't think we would have the cap space for Hayward though, if we do this.

Can't they make the trade after signing Hayward?

They can, but it would be kind of awk to see the Cavaliers and Celtics, in a sense, helping each other LOL (in the middle of the season).

Like Cavs give their third wheel to the Celtics, while Celtics likewise allow the Cavaliers to get Paul George.

If they both are 1-2 again in the East... it would be a little weird if they made that trade.

If I'm the Pacers I'd rather have Love than Crowder and Bradley. Now if a BKN pick is included the Pacers might prefer that but then I'm not sure Boston would do it.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

UNLESS a 3rd team is involved, why would the Pacers do this?

IF PG leaves, they are rebuilding.....NOT COMPETING...with anybody..... except maybe ping pong balls.

Love does zero for a rebuild.

I read that the Pacers would "build around" Love.

If it does go down it's just more NBA BS.

The fact is the League needs to do something to boost the Cavs. Who wants to see the same teams play in the finals again next year.

I don't. It would be a little more entertaining to see the Cavs lose with George instead of Love.

To compete when?

With Monta Ellis, Al Jeff and Thad Young....all with crap contracts...and mismatched.

That could be a lottery team.

I think we can......maybe that's Ainge's plan: get Hayward AND George.

Indiana will rebuild and tread water and be a lottery team with their old, mismatched core.

They want picks and young players. We've got plenty of those.

Has anyone thought about the luxury tax implications of this deal? George is a FA in 2018, a year earlier than Love if he decides to opt out. It would add another $8m to an already huge tax bill in Cleveland. Given that there are already legitimate concerns over their ability to keep their current contracts intact over the next few years I would be very surprised if they added to their problems.

I think George allows them to move some other players.  They could for example package Thompson with Smith for a cheaper big and cut out some of that tax (as an example).
