i got to admit ,he has the best mentor in the league for a guard who changes speed, pace and direction-ISAIAH
Fultz has what looks like the ability to gain that core strength that Isaiah has and has that elite length
SO with Isaiah teaching him how to use these gifts and Bradley to mentor his defense and all having a Washington connection the transition may be smooth.
But Jaylen , Smart  are another story both high picks both physical forces",The Rookie" will have to earn their respect the hard way on defense
.Then Crowder who had to work his way up in obscurity and Rozier a questioned pick and a year in d league but tough and has burst and length.
Fultz has his work cut out for him.

If drafted by the C's, he's definitely going to have to earn his stripes. But, his offensive gifts are undeniable and I think off that alone he might get more playing time  than Jaylen did last year. He's much more polished offensively and if he's on that second unit with Smart, I think it could be a huge boost for that 2nd unit that struggled a lot last year as they never really replaced Turner's offense off the bench.

IT's ability to finish in traffic at his height is truly astounding. What I attribute it to is his ability, not only to keep his body between the defender and the ball, the but actually seek contact and use the defenders body by bouncing off bigger guys and creating that much more separation after the contact. It's amazing.

I don't know if that kind of instinct can be taught, but IT is certainly a good role model for Fultz to have around.

Yeah agreed, so a question I've been meaning to pose is, is Fultz better than Brown?  I think the answer is yes (even at different positions), but more specifically is the question of whether Brown is truly a building block for the future core?  Personally, I need to see his sophomore year to answer that.

I mexcited to see Fultz , Brown and Smart and Zizic join Horford   This could be alot of fun.

Honestly, the things that IT can do aren't all that teachable.  Otherwise, we'd see Avery, smart, and others do that.  These sorts of things honestly are developed very early on.  Very very early on.

It's astonishing that he can finish at all at his size, but he is still the most-blocked player in the Association, IIRC.

Even with his rawness and inconsistencies, he still gave us a lot of quality minutes. His athleticism is off the charts. If he puts in the work to become fundamentally sound, I think he absolutely can be part of our future core.

This mentorship, as it relates to skills, is really overblown. Players have elite skills because they're gifted, but it's not as though these skills are easily transferrable. If so, Rondo would've been a Ray Allen clone and Phil Pressey a Thomas clone in just a few years. Players can be mentored as far as X's & O's work ethic, being a professional, training, eating, etc., but that's where it pretty much ends. At his height, Isaiah's ability to change speeds and finish at the basket is generational type stuff.

Yet another thread with Fultz's name on it? Can't wait for the draft because This. Has. To. Stop!

Since I opened it I might as well say how sick our Summer League team is going to be.

Celtics of 2017 Summer League are (will be) what the Golden State Warriors are to the 2017 NBA. Blow out city here we come!

According to this article from FiveThirtyEight, you are correct that he gets blocked more than anyone in the league. The article also notes, though, that he led the league in drives to the rim and according to BBallRef he was 5th in the league in FTA.

The FT8 article attributes Thomas' ability to finish to the way he uses the rim to avoid blocks. Something he's done more these last two seasons than ever before and there has been a drop in the percentage of shots blocked. So these might be some tricks Fultz can be taught.

LOL!  I'd rather be talking about Fultz than Saric.   ;D

If we retain our guards while adding Fultz do you think a small ball second unit of Rozier, Fultz, Smart, and Brown would work?  If we add a max player something has to give, but if we don't maybe we can keep them all for now, and decide later on who to trade.  Plus I'm not even sure Thomas will be ready to start the season, and it would be nice to have that kind of depth for now.

I've watched Fultz split defenses, score with contact and his change of pace and direction is so fluid as to look nonchalant
-Fultz was not always 6-5 and only a couple years from being on junior varsity
Next, Isaiah certainly will be able to teach how to carry the ball and what they will or will not call.
Also its not big exaggerated fakes, its just subtle enough to get a player transferring his motion slightly ,these guys just need a crack.
