It's more important what number Anthony Davis will wear.  ;D

Yeah, I'm guessing Fultz gets #20 if he wants it.  The draft happens first right?  They are not likely to hold that number in the event that we land Hayward.

Agreed. Fultz will take #20 the day after the draft, and Hayward will have to negotiate for the number if he decides to come to Boston during free agency.

They should let him wear number 1.

But that might be like putting a target on his back.

What number will Fultz wear if he is pick by the Celtics? Just curious what ppl think..

Good question....TP for the thought.

Already a thread on something similar, entitled "#20" that mods may want to merge:

EDIT: The good news to me is that #20 will be on someone else's back other than Judas.
funny, when I think #20 I think Brian Shaw, not Ray Allen --> neither of them left team gracefully.  maybe both Fultz and Hayward should stay away from 20,

Funny when I think of #20 it's Sherman Douglas. Shaw is a Laker to me.
ok fine

Or just disrespecting a dead guy.

Question should be: Who's name do you want on your new, future, #20 Celtics jersey, Fultz or Hayward?

He should take number 18, since that's the title he's going to lead us to!  ;)

Fultz always wanted to be No. 1.

Could we get Walter Brown to give it up??

Fun fact from scrolling through those numbers:

Assuming Pierce's 34 is retired only 3 players have ever worn the same number for more than 7 seasons in Boston and NOT had their number retired.

Eric Williams, 55
Gene Conley, 17
Rajon Rondo, 9

each wore player wore that number for 8 years. So if you get to 9, you are sure to wind up in the rafters!!!

Bradley's only got to survive for 3 more years!
