From everything that I have read, Hayward is the Celtics #1 target. However, when is Danny scheduled to meet with him. Is it really Tuesday? I also read that Utah will get the last chance to speak to Hayward.

Assuming Tuesday is correct regarding Danny's interview with Hayward, what are the Celtics plans when free agency starts on Saturday? Will they call Blake Griffin to express interest and schedule a date to meet?

Will Indiana be patient enough to wait on the Hayward decision too. As free agents sign, maybe Indiana panics and trades George to another team.

Dude, EXACTLY!  It's insane to sit and wait for Hayward to come in on Tuesday after he's already met with other teams, meanwhile the other top FAs are also meeting with other teams.

Danny's plans aren't known publicly.  But I hope to heck that he's not putting all his eggs in the "hope to sign Hayward on Tuesday" basket.  Because that is really, really risky imo.  We will have missed out on Griffin by then, as well as lower tier FAs like Olynyk, Mirotic, Taj Gibson, etc.

OH NO.

We can't lose Olynyk. Cancel every dang meeting!  ::)

I imagine Danny will be calling Hayward as he is pulling into Blake Griffin's driveway at  00:00 on July 1st.

I'm cool with definitely signing Blake Griffin rather than just having a 'good chance' at signing Hayward. Hayward isn't Durant, this should be a thing.

I knew this was going to happen:

Quote
The Boston Celtics have had a tricky time nailing down a meeting with free agent Blake Griffin because of clashing priorities, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The source told MassLive.com Friday afternoon that Griffin is said to prefer exploring his options early in the free agency period. That has made things difficult with the Celtics, who have other priorities, like the pursuit of Gordon Hayward and potentially a trade for Paul George.

We can only realistically pursue either Hayward OR Griffin. We will not have a shot at Griffin if we wait until Hayward's decision on Tuesday.
