Say if we strike out during free agency what do we do than? Trade for a big like Myles Leonard? Portland may attach a first round pick to move him.Back to Jimmy or George what would your backup plan be?

It is Meyers Leonard. I certainly like the guys size and his outside shot is not bad but his contract is 9M, 10M & 11M for the next 3 years. Not sure how that interprets into the cap but since teams are giving huge contracts to average players these days if it fits he might not be a bad option on the bench.

Good question because we if we end up paying KO, then we're pretty much leaving trades and the best/only option.  On the other hand, we don't pay KO and we could be treading water at best next year.  May not sit well with the players themselves.

I think at that point our best option is trades.  I would dangle Brown and the 18 brooklyn pick for Butler or George (assuming we thought we could keep him) and probably keep KO.

Offering IT a renegotiated deal is my worst-case scenario. That way we could avoid paying him too late into his thirties and maybe even get a slight discount. I would pursue all other options first, though, including bringing someone minor like Taj Gibson in.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

First we go after Hayward, Griffin and maybe Millsap. If we strike out on those guys we could target guys like Gallinari, Rudy Gay and Taj Gibson. If we strike out on those guys (or decide we don't want them), then I think we use our cap space to bring a player to Boston via trade like Carmelo Anthony.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm not even sure how much they want Hayward, or at least want him considering the cost. Depends on whether or not they think he can be a cornerstone to a championship.

I think they're going to do next to nothing but bring in Fultz and a veteran big man. Probably trade Bradley at some point.

Anybody who expects a ton of fireworks is probably going to be disappointed. Team isn't championship caliber, and no free agent they can get would make them so.

Renegotiate/Extend for IT makes a lot of sense. He can stay on as caretaker for the younger guys and once his contract comes off the books we'll be just about ready to hand the keys over to Fultz.

Great words from a great man

They want him badly. Reports at the trade deadline were that they were unwilling to do a deal that hurt our cap space this summer. His actions of making sure to keep max cap space indicate that they plan on using the cap space.

It would be back up options like Carmelo or selling off assets to just build around the kids.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I like such actions better than signing Hayward for 30 million a year. He just isn't worth it. Hell, I would rather resign Thomas to a max contract this summer.

But on the other hand I really dislike Leonard  >:(.

Sit back and watch the board full into full blown panic despite adding a superstar talent to a team that won 53 games.

At that point I would shift towards building more around the young guys and maintaining future flexibility. Adding George or Butler isn't getting you past Cleveland now so why use future assets to do so? Look at extending either Avery or Isaiah with the cap room. Extending Isaiah with cap room means we can only add 3 years to his contract (as opposes to five after next year) which makes it a lot more palatable.

so basically you're saying you would panic and trade our future for 2 years of prime butler or rental of George. Wow
