Of course there will be cross defending in most cases, but would that be a more effective offense?

And yes, I know, IT has shown to be a good passer.   But that works fine anywhere on the court.

They seem pretty interchangeable, don't they?  Does it matter if McCollum or Lillard initiates the offense?  Seems like they just go with the flow.

I don't see why there would be cross defending.  The smaller player will always be on Isaiah and Isaiah will always be on the smaller player.

Fultz wont start from day 1, and unless Bradley is traded he wont start at all.

Once Fultz gets in the starting lineup I think Isaiah will play off-ball more often than not.

If Fultz starts next to Thomas then it would be at SG. But I am pretty sure the PG/SG distinction is kind of irrelevant on this team anyway.

Pretty much this. Although, early in Markelle's career, it might be beneficial to ease him in as an off-ball player.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

We have to move someone. Too many guards, not enough bigs.

I wouldn't necessarily say "more" often than not, but I would agree with "as often as not".

Both Fultz and Thomas are pretty comfortable playing on or off the ball.   Both have history going back to high school of playing either role.

I think we'd see the ball shared freely between them (and Al Horford) when it comes to playing "point".   If we add Hayward, who is also a pretty good ball-handling/passing wing, you could very easily see a different guy leading the team in assists each game.

The idiot critics on this blog at that point will come down hard on one or the other of Thomas/Fultz for not averaging enough assists to be worthy of being a #1 pick / max contract PG.  (Meanwhile the team will lead the league in assists and be a top offense.)

Lillard/McCollum is a disaster defensively. IT/Fultz might be even worse to start out.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Fultz is not starting while AB is still a Celtic

Fultz may not even get crucial min over Smart

LOL, I can imagine that early on, while Fultz is still learning NBA defense, when in late, close-game situations, Stevens would sub his entire back court defensively and offensively!

Offensive possessions:  IT+MF
Defensive possessions:  AB+MS

(Unless, of course AB and/or MS were moved before then).

I just don't see a Fultz/IT backcourt ever working or even getting the chance to work. I think one of them is traded or allowed to walk before then. Fultz is our franchise PG going forward, not our SG. I think Brown is much more likely to start at SG than Fultz if AB leaves. He's much more ready defensively and provides the necessary size and athleticism to help cover for IT defensively.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Do you define positions by their offensive role or who they guard?

I think Fultz and IT could share ball handling duty 50/50 with Fultz guarding 2's and IT guarding 1's
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah, I think they'd share duties, similar to Danny and DJ.
