Some have argued that Hayward will make more money in Boston because of endorsements. Is there a way of quantifying this? Boston is a bigger market, but it is also saturated with stars. Is being the biggest fish in the pond Salt Lake more lucrative than being the second best player on the third most popular team in town?

I'm genuinely curious, but I also wanted an excuse to post this:

Does that video single-handedly tip the scales in favor of Utah? I think it may.

Locally no, but possibly nationally, but at the end of the day winning will trump most everything else.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

That commercial is dreadful.  A good reason to bolt UT.

I don't see Hayward as the 3rd best player on this team. If he came in, and we lost Bradley, I think he is 2nd behind IT. And while Hayward has his defensive lapses, I don't view him as nearly the defensive liability that IT is. So I would say in Boston he would be our 2nd if not 1st best player.

Um, no.  The OP is on to something.  At the end of the day, money usually trumps everything else.

I think players in larger cities like LA, Chicago, NY and Boston get more national recognition.  They are on National TV More and probably get better marketing deals.  So yes I would say he could make more money in Boston versus Utah.  Hopefully that can lower the gap and the prospect of going further and playing for Brad will be more appealing then staying in Utah.

This just isn't accurate. He'll be our best 2 way player, one who can create offense in crunch time and still play solid defense.

Ainge and Stevens should tell Hayward one thing about marketability.

Look what 1 ring did for KGs, Allen and PP career in Boston. You win in Boston and you are considered a NBA great...just one. If you win more, you're a legend...that's nationally and throughout NBA circles.

The only way to do that in Utah is to be Stockton and Malone...and that's not happening.

I don't know how much this matters anymore. It seems like in the past the bigger markets meant a lot more visibility but with the internet and league pass the smaller markets have more opportunities than ever.

It might be that what really gets a player noticed is playoff games. 4-7 national TV games in a series and the deeper the team goes, the fewer teams playing which means a brighter and brighter spotlight. Sell a player on the idea that he'll go farther in the playoffs in Boston, and that'll be the best business decision for him.

It is. He ranks solidly third on my impact chart -- doesn't quite bring the offensive explosion that Thomas does, or the overall impact that Horford has. And not a premium defender. A nice complementary piece, but just that.

The thing is, Gordon Hayward is the "Tom Brady" of Utah, and so he can make a much bigger name for himself as an all-star in Utah which doesn't have an MLB, NHL or NFL team either lol.

He would be more of a #2 or maybe even #3 guy here in Boston (#3 in a few years assuming Fultz and Brown pan out too).

I'd love to have him but I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed with Utah as well.

Boston's market is bigger but it's not as big as say, Miami or Golden State (risers), or NYK and LAL. It's more on the "lower end of Top-10", so like 8-10th biggest market in the NBA I believe, although Forbes has it valued like 4th best I believe. I'm thinking more popularity and TV ratings though. But if BOS can contend real soon and build a "super team" it will rise as well.
