Can you really miss in trading a 2nd for Dwight, especially if you're the Celtics right now?
My concern stems from salary cap implications. Doesn't Dwight make about as much as Horford? If we could field a team that had IT-Smart(or Fultz/Brown)-Hayward-Horford-Dwight, I'm all for it.
I don't know if it's possible. I'd say that team matches up quite well vs Cleveland though.
Yeah, I don't think it could happen if Hayward comes aboard, which seems 50/50. And he would be a nasty cap hit for a couple years, but as long as he didn't completely suck... he could significantly address our exact areas of need.
Dwight makes a little more than 23 million a year for 2 more years. That's ok tbh because although we can't sign a max FA, we can resign KO and get our rookies on the team. Then say we get a vet or two to join us on te vet min or room exception, then trade away Rozier to clear our logjam.
Lineup:
IT Fultz Jackson
Bradley Smart Nader (on a multi year contract for a 2nd round pick)
Crowder Brown Green (vet min)
Horford KO Jerebko (room exception)
Howard Zizic 2nd round pick
Although the bigs aren't deep it is definitely solid, with Zizic being a backup center rn in terms of quality and KO still being KO (ofc hoping for better consistency but he's pretty much what he is at this point). I think this team is a contender with us being so strong inside with Al and Dwight starting with good perimeter D to wear down opposing teams' perimeter players.
