What if, on day 1 of free agency, or whenever these things could be agreed in principle we offered the rights to whomever we draft at no. 1, Zeller, Crowder, and a first rounder to Utah, in exchange for Gordon Hayward in an S&T deal?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
You may want to edit your original proposal to include Gobert as the current idea is one of the scariest this board has ever seen. You know that we can just sign Hayward for 'free', right?

I wouldn't trade just #1 for Hayward.  Then you want to add a friendly contract like Crowder too :)
Sure you are not a closet Utah fan?

You must be messing up how you are saying this. Obviously the number 1 would not be traded on its' own for Hayward even if he was under contract. The number 1 is more valuable than Hayward.

Just erm thinking outside the box

Yes that is outside the box or outside the universe. It's like you go to pay for your auto repair bill for $400 and you say here is an additional $1,000 tip for yourself, and here is a $100 gift certificate for dining and also I will give you my motorcycle as well. Thank you for doing such a good job.

And Utah can offer him way more than we can hope or imagine straight up. So instead of having to cobble together one or more cap clearing deals, before or after pitching Hayward, and risk him staying in Utah, we can say to Utah, you ain't gotta have to lose your man for nuthin.

clearly OP is a Utah fan. What gave it away?

His name of course. Anyone see how his name gives away his loyalties?

Should I read anything into your username? That's the only explanation I can think of for being that nice to Utah.
