Not playing due to foot surgery.

I have visions of Sully running through my mind. Major red flag already for a guy his size.

How is this related to Sullinger?

Sullinger had back problems before we drafted him and weight issues in college. Yabu has bone spurs, was injured after we drafted him and has about 6% body fat.

disappointed he won't play but I think the impact to next year's team were likely to be him being stashed for 1 more year.

This would actually be a pretty good scenario for the Celtics.  They need all the cap space they can get if they want to go after a max free agent, and (correct me if I'm wrong) keeping Yabu overseas would mean he doesn't count towards their cap space.
