I don't rule anything out with Ainge. I just don't know what the value of IT is out there on the market right now.

IT is coming off a year in which he earned 2nd team All-NBA honors and was the a leading scorer in the reg. season. That's worth something. But then again, how much of that is highlighted by Brad Stevens and Al Horford.

I know IT is an elite scorer, but one with several questions in his play.

I think he can be a overall positive net gain for a team, especially a contender. But how much could the Cs realistically fetch for him in a trade?

The most realistic trade I can think of is IT for the 9th pick (Dallas).

[dang]!!!

If we were trying to trade for Butler we would be offering Bradley, Crowder AND the Nets 2017 pick.

But all we expect for the 3rd leading scoring, MVP candidate of the #1 seed in the East is a 9th pick... who says size doesn't matter

Ya both the Minnesota (given how much Dunn struggled) or Dallas might make sense. I mean imagine how good that Minnesota offense could be with Isaiah, Wiggins and Towns. The defense would be awful though. Dallas might bite to get Dirk one last chance at the playoffs.

I'd do it. I think Dallas would, too.

Hope for Isaac or Collins.

Ya the problem is the glut of point guards in the league, its hard to find a team that really needs one. In addition he's in the last year of his deal where as Butler has two years. Butlers also a vastly superior defender. On top of all that I wouldn't give up that package for Butler.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I'd consider dealing Thomas at a chance for Tatum or Jackson, but not for the 9th pick.

Exactly. People use the word 'homer' a lot around here, but this is us getting royally screwed.

One of the 7-9 picks (Wolves, Knicks, Mavs)

To Wolves: IT4
To Celtics: 7th pick, Aldrich

To Knicks: IT4
To Celtics:  O'Quinn, Baker, 8th pick

To Mavs: IT4
To Celtics: Powell, 9th Pick

Well, here are a couple of ''homer'' ideas then

IT + Memphis 2019 first for Myles Turner

IT + Memphis 2019 first for Saric and Sacramento 2019 unprotected first

If the Knicks wanted to give Melo one last go (which I don't think is their goal) then they could be a partner.

Maybe IT for their pick and Herangomez.

Otherwise I would say a team that wants to put fans in the seats.  The Pelicans would probably love adding IT to Davis and Cousins, but I'm not sure what they could offer.

The Lakers would probably love IT as well (and I would love Larry Nance Jr in Boston!) but they have a bunch of guards anyways and could potentially add one in the draft.

Maybe the Lakers would take IT and use their pick to go after George?

IT would lead the Heat to the same place as Celtics .  2-4 place in East .

But once again , the Heat with IT wom't be able to get by Lebron long as he is healthy and has his 120 million a year core in tact.

might get some 10-20 pick and seconds .

He would instantly send the Heat to 2-3 place in East .

This would be the best case scenario.

Nothing anywhere close to fair value for an elite primary scorer / pick and roll ball-handler.

Precisely.

I see that the overreaction to the first two games is in full flower.

The plan is simple - draft Fultz, sign Hayward and make a lesser deal for a big.
