Ok everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted a new topic but I'm going to try to talk this forum down from the ledge...

Is this game/series an embarrassment to this point? Yes
Do we as fans have the right to be frustrated? Yes
Will it matter in the long run? Hell no!

Here's the truth... making the ECF was the accomplishment this season. This is house money. The team is banged up and tired. Lebron is the best he's ever been. The Cavs are locked in. We had a better season than 27 other teams, and we won the lotto!

We're going to get swept this series, and it'll pretty probably be ugly in Cleveland...but it doesn't matter in the end. No team outside of GS/Cleveland is winning a championship in the next few years.

Think about the future...DA will draft Fultz #1. Jaylen is already a bright spot in this series. We'll try to get Hayward and continue to compete while developing our future. He won't trade our lotto picks for George because he knows it won't put us over the top.

Will this core ever win a championship? Probably not... but it doesn't matter, because DA set is up to compete while developing the future. We're in a better place than many teams, no matter how bad it gets this series.

IT and Horford will stick around (I.e be resigned) and mentor Fultz, Jaylen, and the 2018 pick. Then, similar to Kawhi the torch will be passed.

The future is bright guys... take a deep breath and forget this series. I promise it won't matter in due time.

We need time for brown to develop but he's made more strides in 1 year than smart made in 3. Imagine fultz and brown in transition. Next year can't come soon enough

I would understand if we were talking about Smart or Rozier, players that so far have proven they need to be brought along. But Fultz and Brown (especially with Brown overcoming his weaknesses: 3-point shooting and finishing around the rim) are players that not only have severely higher floors, they also have the ability to exponentially increase their game/production.

Fultz, Brown, and the 2018 BKN pick should not be ruled out for playing time based on their age. If they earn playing time or even a starting spot then they should inserted into that spot until someone better takes it.

Hell ya dude. But I admit that it is more implied bc no one would actually be stupid enough to say that. However most posts do have a bias that focus on a set number of years before Fultz and Brown will not need the "babysitting" of the adluts and will SHOULD be ready to contribute.

IMO these posts are more about IT Horford and other vets and Hayward and focuses on age and timing ala when they should be dropping off instead of primarily focusing on each player individually.

Yeah, we're pretty much all saying the same thing.  Brad Stevens, like Doc before him, is only going to give minutes if earned.  Thing is, they earn it in practice as much as games so none of us have any insight into that.  This is why age is used so often as a metric (by fans).

I know we have talked about Smart ad nauseum on this board, but I still like him and want to keep him if possible.  IMO, the only thing left for Marcus Smart to do is to increase his FG% just a few points and our view of him could be quite different.  This past season he was at 36% which ranked him at #435 with players around him such as Brandon Jennings, Mario Hezonja, Stanley Johnson, Justice Winslow, Randy Foye.  At 39%, his ranking would be about #385 along with players such as Matthew Delladova, Sergio Rodriguez, Danny Green, Wesley Matthews.
