What I am doing with Thomas and Horford

realistically we should not be expecting next season to resemble the success we've managed this season.  Ainge and Stevens have been quietly telling the media this team is overrated.  Coming from the two biggest Celtics experts, our expectations have gotten out of hand.

Putting reservations on our expectations is not something Bostonians usually can do and I get it.  It is way more fun to get caught up in the magic of Isaiah's Celtics.  But after hearing what MacMullin and Ryan, I've realized Ainge has much bigger plans than building around Isaiah.

Now that Ainge has shown he can make imperfect rosters work and maximize their potential.  Given the abundance of assets, there is no reason to think he can't build a better roster.  I mean he practically turned this team around with a late first and an expiring contract.

As for Isaiah, I think it is time to realize greed is going to ruin his legacy.  It is time for Isaiah to repay the franchise the same kindness they have shown him.  Because reviving your career from the Arizona wasteland has built your brand and will have made you a multimillionaire. If money is too important, Ainge knows a bottom dwelling team will gladly take Isaiah and his two minutes of fame will be over.

If this series accomplishes anything, I hope it permanently eradicates the perpetual overvaluing of role players on this site, but more importantly, by the Celtics organization. Guys like Olynyk, Bradley, Smart, Rozier, and Crowder won't determine whether we can build a true contender. These are the only things that matter right now:

1) Horford

2) Thomas

3) Brown

4) Fultz

5)Hayward

6) Brooklyn 2018

None of our other assets or potential assets really matter much.This list of crucial assets or potential assets will change over time but you build a contender by surrounding stars with role  players, not surrounding role players with a star or two. There is no such thing as an indispensable role player to a team that has yet to establish it's core of stars.

This team was projected to win 50+ games and lose the ECF. That is exactly what's happened. They haven overachieved since 2015. Not sure how they've kept that label despite performing nearly exactly as expected for 2 consecutive seasons

I think IT and Celtics should be able to workout a reasonable deal that works for both teams.

I just hope everyone stops raising their expectations for next season and this overvaluing of Isaiah and some of the other role players, specifically Crowder. You know every sports host and sports reporter is going to try and hype up the teams expectations especially with the first pick in the draft on the roster next season

I see some people are finally ready to come over to the darkside....

To move forward we will have to take a step back first. Trade IT/AB/Smart bc there positions are filled by Fultz and Brown now...we don't need or want them as "trainees", especially since we can get value for them this summer before the walk next. We trade all them, and some more lie Al, for prospects and picks. Go into next years draft with a probable 2 top 5 picks. Don't you feel lighter already?
