its called a smoke screen ... No team ever in the history releases who they are going to draft this far ahead unless its an undisputed pick like Lebron or Shaq
The Celtic organization, specifically, has been really good about this over the last bunch of years. They don't really leak stuff. I had no idea what was going to happen with last year's pick until Jaylen's name was said aloud by Silver. Similarly, look a the thread about Jackie Mac saying IT had been available a year ago. That's how long it takes the C's information to actually come out, a year later.
It also wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Ainge was talking up Tatum just to see what kind of a deal he could get out of Philly. If they were to sweeten the pot enough, maybe he does trade down.
Huh? You wouldn't get Philly to sweeten the pot by talking up their asset (Tatum at 3) instead of ours (Fultz at 1). You would say, we really, really love Fultz, but are always open to offers ... nobody is untouchable. If Ainge had a crystal ball and knew Tatum would be better than Fultz, why on earth would he talk up Tatum? Who knows, that might even lead the Lakers at two to take Tatum. Doesn't make sense that this would be a smokescreen.
In reality, he probably just said Tatum is a very good player ... not in comparison to Fultz, but just in general.
