After thinking about it for a few days, I think the best (and most likely) course of action (assuming we draft fultz) is to not make any trades.  Keep IT, keep Avery, keep Smart, keep Rozier.  Fultz is going to play but he's not going to be an instant star.  But good enough to help us improve over this year.

Now, let me hedge a little bit.  I'd be happy to trade smart and rozier but I don't think they have too much value so it would be best to keep them.  Following the year we could figure things out.  Does Fultz look like a star?  Then let one of Avery or IT walk and sign the other.  I'd prefer to keep Avery.  Between smart and rozier, eventually keep one if the other becomes too costly.

The bottom line for me is not to jump to a trade unless you're really blown away.  And I'd be perfectly okay to play it out all of next year.

Bradley's pretty much gone, whether it's next month or next year. We're going to have too many guards, and he's not worth the contract he's going to expect.

I'm with you. Run it back!

Draft additions and free agent additions, big or small. Minimal subtractions other than those needed to sign a big fish and the end of the bench crowd.

A fair amount of posters feel the same way about IT.

Haven't had the chance to listen to it yet, but in a recent Bob Ryan podcast with Jackie Mac she says that Ainge reportedly offered IT in a trade in an attempt to get another lottery pick in last years draft.

I'd still go after Hayward and build a team ready to compete in 2 or 3 years using IT/Horford/Hayward as mentors. By the end of their contracts the young guys can help them win a title or two, and then move on from them leaving Fultz/Smart/Brown/2018 to take over.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.   Bradley will cost a lot less to resign the IT and his personality is such that he can accept and thrive as the back up shooting guard.  I believe IT is at the point where he would have a problem playing bench minutes as the back up point guard.

The way I see the future coming into place is:

PG: Fultz
SG: Brown
SF: Hayward

After that a lot depends on who we can get in the 2018 draft and how well Zizic develops.  Is Zizic strictly a 5 or will he be able to play the 4?

So we are going to pay a backup guard 80 -100 mil over the next 4 years?

Bradley is gone, and it would be wise to use him as a trade asset this off-season instead of losing him for nothing in return. Especially if he can be use as part of a PG13 trade.

if we have to trade Ab so be it. but keep our young draftees and core. sign a young enough FA that can help bridge us into starting our serious run in say 3 years with fultz, brown, 2018 pick, and whomever else pans out through free agency of guys we have brought from europe.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

It's easy to say trade AB, but if we keep IT then AB also has to stay... he's the reason IT isn't a big a liability on defense. The team as constructed is around IT as the star moving parts will seriously disrupt the team's balance defensively. Rozier, Olynyk, Zeller, JJ, Amir are tradeable. Crowder is also untouchable... for similar reasons
