First of alle I must say I really like all of the guys I'm talking about in this post. I would like to see them all in the green jersey for years to come, but I just don't see it happening.

I think we should sign Fultz. He seems like a potential all-star and I think he will reach another level than our current guards. With him coming in we will have Fultz, Thomas, Bradley, Smart and Rozier as our main guards, all talented guards with great potential.

My thought is therefore, that we might need to trade a guard, as we cannot use all that talent on just to guard positions. Who we might trade comes down to the value of the contract we have them signed to and the talent of the player.

I have tried to make a list of the players based on how much I want them to stay as building blocks.

1. Fultz
Fultz is the future of Celtics. Signing him to a rookie contract is just fantastic, and we cannot get a greater talent.

2. Thomas
Thomas is just a great guy. My only concern with him is, that we probably won't have the salary cap to re-sign him after next year. Would you guys give him a max contract? I wouldn't because of his defence or lack of it, and I can't find the money with our current roster.
I think both Knicks and Raptors might be interested in trading him, and I think we should think about it if the price is right. He is not getting any younger, and might be looking for a long (max) contract

3. Bradley
Bradley is my favourite player on this Celtics team, so I might be a bit biased.
Bradley is the silent hero who are a great player on both defence and offence. He is not a star and is never going to be, but he gets the job done especially on defence.
Bradley's got a great contract too but I'm not sure how much we would ask for if we should re-sign him. He is definitely not going to ask for a max. contract

4. Smart
Smart still has to years left on his great contract. I think he will continue to develop, and I really believe in him to become a great NBA player, especially on the defence. I think he will be on the Defensive team of the year in a few years time.

5. Rozier
The reason he is 5 on my list is simply that he has played the least next to Fultz. I hope he will be great, but I don't think his trade value is there yet. He is a bit of a lottery ticket to me.

How do you guys rate our guards?

I'd probably list them the same way, if there was no salary cap.

With the cap, AB is the guy I think we should reluctantly trade. Moving him and signing Hayward improves our team significantly.

I saw today that Isaiah made the NBA 2nd team, which is awesome and we'll deserved.

However, if that makes his next contract one of those 35 million a year super deals than I would say trade him.  Love what IT has done to get this franchise back on track, but he is not a max contract guy for me.  Others will disagree and that is fine, but if he is now eligible for the super max than he is my choice.

I love our current team, but I think our future is brighter.  My top guy is Fultz.  I like Rozier a lot, Smart is incredible on D but drives me nuts on offense.  Bradley and IT are great but I don't want to pay them what they are going to be looking for.

EDIT:  Looks like IT is not eligible for the super max.  Still feel our future is where it is at, and would think long and hard about his next contract.

Very tough, and I keep going back and forth.  I would need to know what we'd get for AB or IT, and our comfort with the luxury tax, but I'd be inclined to deal one of AB or Smart.  AB is better but would fetch more in a deal and would be more expensive to keep, so if the FO believed Smart could become a 35% 3 point shooter who looked to post up, which he's quite good at, prolly AB.

I definitely want Fultz, I like Rozier as an affordable upside backup PG, and it's hard to envision trading IT at this time.  If we think Smart can get better on offense, and he's still I think only 23, I'd try to deal AB (and Crowder if necessary, reluctantly) for a young talented big man.

Bradley.

He's gonna cost too much to keep after next season.  Makes sense to trade him this summer, especially if it helps the Celts upgrade the frontcourt.

1. Fultz
2. Smart
3. Bradley
4. Isaiah
5. Rozier

Isaiah isn't built for the playoffs and is generally an overwhelming liability on defense. Would almost prefer Rozier over him, so long as trading Isaiah got us something very, very nice in return.

Should probably include Crowder in this list. He's going to block Jaylen as much as the guards are blocking Fultz.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Bradley: Hes terrific, but hes gonna want a ton of money, he clears things up for Hayward, and he is inconsistent and injury prone.

Smart: He isnt as good a player as Bradley, but hes more versatile, should be pretty substantially cheaper (hes an RFA while Bradley is a UFA). Ultimately one of him or AB has GOT to go to make the money and minutes work.

Rozier: Hes shown a lot these playoffs, but I dont think you can get equal value for him so Id rather not trade him. Hes pretty cheap and moving him doesnt really alleviate to much cap or much of the minutes crunch. If you are in a situation where you need his cap space or cant find any minutes at all for him, you move on from him, but if you can avoid it, Id keep him. Hes cheap, under team control, and has a lot of potential.

#1(Fultz): Kid is the future. More valuable than any other asset on the team. I list him ahead of Isaiah because Isaiah is really really difficult to get equal value for.

Isaiah: Star of the team. Hes got flaws which make him basically untradeable. He gives us all-NBA production but with his contract and defensive limitations I think its hard to imagine evengetting all-star value back. Hes basically untradeable.

It does not.  One of the requirements is 1 or 2 seasons left on the current contract with 7 or 8 seasons played.  IT has only played 6 seasons.  Next season he'll have 7 but he won't have any time left on his contract.

1. AB due to him likely getting Beal $.
2. Rozier with IT he isn't a huge need.
3. Smart good defender and glue guy but just a role player.
4. IT current leader and face of the team.
5. Fultz high potential also insurance if IT or AB or even Smart depart.

We carried Jackson and Young all year so I'm actually not worried about carrying the 5 listed above. For me AB's  impending FA worries me is all so I'd deal him for "Best Offer" at the draft.
