If the Gordon Hayward thing doesn't work out.  Could the Celtics be interested in Otto Porter?  His max deal is less and his age lines up with the rest of our young guys.

Hayward max starts at 30.6m
Porter max starts at 25.5

This may enable us to retain Bradley, Crowder etc.. otherwise everything I'm reading says we will need to move guys to get Hayward.  Plus messes with Washington and Brooklyn a little.

Because he's a restricted free agent, the Celtics would still need to clear a little salary for him, and then could see his offer sheet matched by Washington.  So they could let Olynyk walk for Porter, only to wind up with neither, for example.

His shooting splits are nice and he had a few nice games in the playoffs, but the teams that give him a max or taking more of a gamble than the team giving Hayward a max. Also are his shooting numbers just extra good in a contract year? Or will he always shoot this guy? It is tough to gauge with a player that is young what is real improvement and what is fools gold.

He is a third SF who is not enough of an improvement to keep ahead of Brown in the future.

Nope. Washington would be smart to not give him that deal too. Nice player. But don't think he's a game changer.

True! Pierce's work with Porter is steadily paying off. He's talented. But he's not worth  the money that we would have to pay  him, to stunt Jaylen's growth.  Invest in a PF or a rebounding player who can start our fastbreak!
