Good show

What do you guys think...that Mannix thinks IT4 contract extension is the last thing on the Celtics organization mind (after nailing the #1 pick - Fultz)

There is 0% chance Isaiah extends his current deal.

What on earth are you talking about?

IT would stand to lose a lot of money by agreeing to an early extension. The only way IT could make more money by signing this summer as opposed to waiting until he becomes a free agent is if the Celtics give him a raise for next year too, which requires cap space to do so. But that would mean no outside free agents could be signed, which doesn't benefit the team.

What on earth are you talking about?

IT would stand to lose a lot of money by agreeing to an early extension. I don't think IT4 will wait until next off season to sign a larger extension

If the offer is there this offseason... he will take it

The extension can only be 120% of the annual value of the last year of his current deal.

On the open market IT will get annual value around 3-4 times what he's making now.

Players usually wait these days for the bigger payday. The risk of injury isn't a big deal because unless something weird happens like Bosh's heart condition, players still usually get paid regardless. Even Wesley Matthews got an 18m/year deal. If Durant broke his leg tomorrow he'd still have 30 teams offering him a max deal this offseason.

impossible to project out cap space, but plenty of teams with it will pay him huge money.

keep in mind, last season it cost 18 mil a year to get Evan turner to come off the bench. Someone out there is gonna be willing to pay 30 mil to have IT be their #1 option.

Portland regrets that move every day.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I think the C's should keep IT. I think he cant be "THE" guy but I do think he can be part of the solution. I wonder if DA would risk letting him test FA next summer and try to find out what he is truly worth. I think he's worth more to the Cs than he is anyone else.

There is a 0% chance he straight up extends his deal.  If the Celtics strike out in free agency, however, they could renegotiate-and-extend his deal this summer.  I think there's a decent chance they go that route if Hayward et al. dont choose Boston.

He will certainly get offers far in excess of 120% of the annual value of his current deal.

Would you please explain what you mean by re-negotiate?
