I think the pick is getting flipped for him if we are able to sign Hayward 1st.

He makes perfect sense with Hayward, both just turned 27 since march, both will be entering their prime (28-32), 5 years younger than Lebron. Both contracts will be up before they hit a decline. They fit perfectly with IT(28) and Horford(Who's game should age well.)

Oh by the way we will still have young strong prospects with Jaylen,Smart, brk 18,Yabu,Zicic

The offer is AB, Jae and #1 for George and filler(future 1st)

Like I said in the other thread

It
Jaylen
Hayward
George
Horford

Smart
Rosier
Brk 18
Yabu
Zicic

Add vets chasing a ring on vet min

That's a roster that contends now and will be ready to take over when Lebron declines.

Have Jaylen and George to defend Lebron 48 mins. That is a lot of length and athleticism to contend with, especially as Jaylen matures.

Danny Since said in the press conference after winning the lotto, that fans who think a 19 yr old kid is going to change our team is crazy, he will contribute , but don't expect too much.

This team is set up to contend now. Don't be afraid of competing with the best.

Its not like we are mortgaging our future with a trade like this, still have plenty of young assets.

Hayward wouldn't be a sure thing until at least a week after the draft. I've never heard of a team trading the No 1 immediately after picking them lol.

Maybe next year's pick. If a PG trade goes down, it's probably on draft night.

Count me out. PG isn't signing an extension even if he's traded that much is certain. He'll just play another year in Indy and sign with LAL in 2018 if worse comes to worse...

Hmmm I seem to remember cle trading Wiggins for love, after they signed Lebron.....

They simply wait until the date Wiggins could be traded and didn't sign him to a contract

Right that's the one example I remember. So it's extremely rare. And Love was under LT contract. PG is not.

No he wasn't under long term contract , that's why rondo was trying to lure him here at Fenway Park.

It was the exact same situation, 1 yr left on his contract....

You're right I remember now. And he stayed with them of course.

Personally, I wouldn't want to put us in that position. Just too dang stressful..I'll take Fultz..

Only way you guys should trade #1 is if Anthony Davis is coming the other way. Paul George won't put you over the top. Cleveland would beat you in 5 or 6 instead of a sweep.
agreed!
I trust Danny Ainge

And if I recall, LA was also a threat to steal Love. Especially after the first season in Cleveland wasn't perfect. But he re-upped. That Minny trade also laid the outline for what could be a Boston/Indy trade. The #1 overall pick (Wiggins/Fultz), a second young prospect (Bennett/Rozier) and another solid vet that could be flipped (Thad Young/Jae or AB).

I love Markelle Fultz as a prospect and would have no issue keeping him. I think he has a chance to be special. But if you could somehow pull off getting Hayward and George, I think you have to do it.

George would be our best player with IT and Horford.  Watching Horford get dominated by love and IT  have a subpar game just makes me think we got punched in the mouth game one. AB had the best game out of anyone.

I don't think George is necessarily a lebron beater either.  Being here we are gaining recognition from stars around the league though which is good.

We know he isn't. LeBron practically averaged a TD with 33 PPG against the Pacers round 1 in an epic sweep. He destroyed PG..

I mean, PG did average 28 pts, 8.8 rbs, and 7.3 in that series... He might not be a "Lebron beater" but he's at least capable of inflicting damage of his own.

plus Indy doesn't have a Jaylen type athlete to play him for the foreseeable future.

LeBron is simply transcendent at this point in his career. He's on a completely different level. He's like Bird in '86. There's no beating him period. When a team has an ATG at the peak of his powers, trying to beat him by collecting lesser stars is simply foolhardy. At that point the only thing to do is keep building for when that player slows down or suffers an injury. Pistons had to wait until the C's got old before they could have their shot.

Also Jaylen is going to improve.  So are guys like KO and Smart but they may be more up and down. Bradley has improved every year in the league.

Having the #1 pick vs George isn't a no brainer.  We get a talented player regardless.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ainge falls for something like this  and we get George and Hayward and keep the 18.  I hope he is more hesistant than that though.

The  series isn't even over yet.

For anyone curious it was just announced the All NBA teams.  Paul George didn't make the cut.

Agreed. George just got smashed by the Cavs. I don't think he's the guy.

I think they should take Fultz and sign Hayward. If they pass on either Avery/IT, they should have some extra $ for another FA.

IT/Smart/Rozier
Bradley/Fultz
Hayward/Brown
Crowder/Yabu
Horford/Zizic/Zeller

I want them to figure out what they have with Yabu and Zizic.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I'd prefer a more long term window in ways and a dynasty.  If we aren't going to get over the hump by drafting fultz that's different but  tough decision.

You either take a short term window and george, it and horford vs lebron, klove and kyrie and our supporting cast or a longer one.  That's a tough decision.

08 we got one then struggled to get over the top again because we lost guys like ta and posey.  and ainge sucked at getting guys like shaq and marbury.

I don't want a repeat of that. We have better pieces this time but we also don't.

This continues to be the silliest argument I hear regarding trying to improve this team now. "X and Y are just too good, wait till they're done."

Lebron could very well reign over the Eastern Conference for the next 5 years, he could blow out his knee next week. And when what happens when while we're waiting for Lebron and the Jamettes to fall off, another super team grows and gets their first? Do we defer again for another 5 years?

And while I think Cleveland is a fantastic team, I don't think they're unbeatable. They legitimately have no worthy challengers. The closest was supposed to be Toronto, but their offense is so predictable that always seemed like a long shot.

I think we should put together the best team possible, play hard and be opportunistic.
