SL discussed this in another thread today (and many of us have been talking about this very issue for months), but the basic premise is that to sign Hayward and keep KO, Bradley would need to be moved for a pick in a future draft.
First off, let me join the chorus of those saying I love Avery and wish he could stay a Celtic to the end. I love his attitude and work ethic and he's a top-quality 3-and-D that works perfectly within the Cs system.
That said ... if we have to move him, what about doing another deal with Doc?
Doc loves Avery. We could ask LA to take the protections off the 2019 LAC pick we already have plus they would add in another future pick. They could send us Pierce' non-guaranteed 3.7M and one of their cheap contracts as the salary match (they have to send out salary). Maybe we could get some other team to take in that other contract.
Obviously, Doc may not be the GM there much longer so maybe this is moot. And they obviously have big questions they have to answer with Chris Paul & Blake Griffin before they know what they are doing. But if they do re-sign CP, you'd think putting Avery on the floor next to him would be an attractive idea.
Just brain storming. There is probably a giant flaw in that somewhere and certainly I'm glossing over details.
