I place George well above Hayward and Butler. PG with the correct surrounding cast and system is a MVP caliber talent. When constructing a Championship team I think PG can be the clear #1 piece where as I see Hayward and Butler at 1a or 2s depending on the teams depth.

In terms of ranking them for the Cs and taking out of the equation the fact that PG is a flight risk to go to LA as a free agents I rank them PG,Hayward then Butler. Over all Butler is likely the superior player to Hayward but in terms of team fit I think Hayward plays better without the ball and is a pure shooter where as Butler can hit shots but is going to struggle off the ball in s spot up role,

I would agree with you pre that horrific injury PG sustained

He has nevet been quite the same since and settles for too many jumpers now imo

Its pretty close between the three...

1)  Hayward - the use of just cap space and the followup trades possible makes him the best choice.

2)  Butler - His biggest drawbacks (leadership) is already covered with IT and Horford.

3)  George - His ability to bolt after a season is the only reason he is third on this list.

What about taking the contract situation out of the equation...pound for pound ranking?

In terms of basketball talent:
1) George - A cut above Hayward and Butler in my mind.  He's not LeBron or Kawhi or Durant obviously, but I think he's closer to that kind of player than the other two.
2a) Hayward - I'd say Hayward and Butler are pretty even talent-wise, but I think Hayward is the better fit for the Cs since he's bigger and we have an under-sized roster, and I think he is more likely to thrive in a ball movement system rather than rely on more isolation.
2b) Butler - I love Butler's physicality, but I think he relies a little more on isolation and overpowering guys and his pure skill level as a shot-maker may not quite be on George and Hayward's level come playoff time.

In terms of attainability and price to acquire:
1) Hayward - Clear number 1 if we can get him in FA without having to sacrifice major assets.
2) George - I assume it will take similar packages to acquire George and Butler (a BRK pick and 2 more signifcant assets out of Brown/Smart/Crowder/AB/Rozier/etc.)  Despite George's looming FA, I would be more inclined to move that kind of package for George than Butler.  I would be very nervous if we have that much up for George, but I would ultimately be psyched we had Paul George.  If we gave up that much for Butler, I would be against the move but hoping it worked out.
3) Butler - See above.

Agree 100% with this.  When healthy and playing on an upper echelon ECF team, Paul George is a top 10 player in the league.  The problem, of course, is whether he would sign with us after the year.  I think winning tonight could go a long way towards helping him realize how good an option we are and are just missing him (or win or lose tonight if we find a way to sign hayward and then trade for him).  But Hayward should be option 1 since we can sign without trading away anything.

I'll be #3 on this train. I agree completely. If we could draft Fultz, sign Hayward and trade for a rebounder that would be as good as this offseason can get.

Without considering contract status or fit or or anything, I think it goes like this with regards to their overall rankings:

1) George

2) Butler
3) Hayward

I think George and Butler have significant advantages defensively over Hayward, which puts them a step above him in my book. I'd say they're all pretty close offensively, though they excel at differing areas.

Now when you consider fit, contract, and context, I think the opposite order is true: Hayward, Butler, and George.

Hayward obviously gets the nod because he's a free agent and wouldn't cost a Brooklyn pick to obtain, while also fitting well into our offensive scheme and being able to slide in at the 2 to replace AB, who I think is the most obvious candidate to be moved for salary cap reasons.

Butler is next on the list due to his reasonable and longer contract than George. And though Butler isn't the shooter that George is, I think he fits much more nicely at the 2 to replace Bradley than George, who I'm not sure can be a 2 full time and would most likely have to replace Crowder at the 3.

With regards to pure fit, George's superior shooting, size, athleticism, and two-way abilities make him a near perfect fit on our team. However, given his contract status, what it'd take to get him, and our positional needs, I think he's third on the given list.

PG is just straight up superior to Hayward and Butler.

If they were all FAs this summer I would go:
1. PG
2. Hayward
3. Butler
I really don't want anything to do with Butler in a couple years once his athletic ability starts decline.  Hayward should age a lot better.

1)  Paul George

2)  Butler
3)  Hayward

Interestingly enough, Haralabos Voulgaris, the most successful NBA gambler ever has a team of people/reports/servers and had Kawaii as the MVP but Paul George in the mix for the #2 spot based upon his impact.  I think the Celtics would really benefit from George's shooting, athleticism, size, and defense.

^ This.

jpotter33 is my mouthpiece here. Mr PG13 is it. Hayward stays in Utah anyway and Jimmy Butler will require a package that is about equal to that for PG....and Jimmy isn't equal to PG.
