I think it's fair to say that our 3 and 4 spots are where we are most likely to need an upgrade to contend. IT is an elite scorer, Bradley is a very good two player, but Jae is a 6th man unless it's Avery we move on from imo, but I think AB is a keeper with his ability to guard elite Point guards. As far as Amir goes, we desperately need an upgrade there.

So it goes like this, what if we can get a meeting with Blake? We line up a lucrative deal for George or Butler with their teams so it's locked in if Blake signs, would you move our #1 in this scenario?

I think for Butler they demand, and for PG I dunno. How can we field this team and keep a Fultz? The pick would have to go. This is if we even get the top pick. I'm curious though, is dangling the prospect of trading for another star an effective method for landing one in FA? Are Blake and George the guys? Jimmy at the 3 work, long term?

I think if we get the top pick we can add 2 stars potentially and get into the Finals.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I would try to sell them on an package of Crowder+'18 Nets First Round pick, and either Rozier or Smart.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
No. I'd trade Bradley and I'd roll with
IT
Fultz
Crowder
Griffin
Horford with

Smart+Brown+Rozier off bench.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

This would be ideal.

Its going to be really really difficult to convince anyone to trade their star player while we sit there and keep our top 4 pick.

It would be nice to trade IT and still have IT   :)

From what I read, the Clippers can offer him 5 years for a total of over $200 million. If that's correct, it would be hard to turn that down given his injury history. He doesn't seem like a New England winters kind of guy to me.

No I wouldn't. You have to consider years on contract and salaries. Just keeping IT will be tough as far as cap. You would be in a better long term position to keep the pick. Unless as stated above you move a 2018 Nets 1st package. Id go AB and Smart as the players in the deal as you need more cap space to sign Griffin but you need guys with more years on contract like Butler. George is too much of a wild card.
So Smart, AB, Nets 2018 (number 1 protected) for Butler. Yes that's a steep price but consider AB will be a FA, Smart RFA and we still keep current Nets pick.

IT/Rozier
Butler/Fultz/Nader
Crowder/Brown
Griffin/x/Yab
Horford/x/Zizic

Only real question is the medical on Griffin can you take a $26 million dollar gamble on him?

Trade the #1 and wind up with a starting lineup of of IT, Bradley, George, Griffin, Horford? Yeah. I do that.

I personally would not want to sign Griffin. He's going to cost a fortune, and he's always hurt. Not his fault, but I just don't see how you can justify spend max money on a guy who misses time every year.
I have to wonder how many years he has left.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Because of the salary cap, it would be more something like Bradley, Crowder/Smart, and the 2017 #1 pick. People really need to think about if they are willing to give up that much.

No -- but I would trade IT for P.George or J.Butler. I would keep Fultz over IT.

I don't think so.

I would go with the IT/Blake/Horford starting trio.

I would allow Crowder and Brown fight it out for the starting SF spot.  I would either start AB at SG or if they draft Fultz, let those two battle it out for the starting SG spot.

I would look to move Smart or Rozier for another vet big man to come off the bench.
