Its not just that AB bungled the defensive play by giving Wall the space he needs..AB was not giving the quick drive which in retrospect would have been the right call because we were 2 up so no way you give a three..we dont know if Wall has made up his mind to go for the win but staying very close to him negates that chance.

Anyways it is what it is...never should have boiled down the last possession had AB bungled 2 layups and IT rimmed one layup as well and during the time it happened I had a nagging feeling those were going to bite us in the end and it did.

Nope imo. Wall is legit a blur. He could easily blow by AB. Cs played it right imo. They made 32% 3 pt shooter take a long three. Kudos to Wall for making it.

Yep. That's a bad shot for the Wiz, we will take it all day.

Wall misses that shot 7 out of 10 times. It wasn't a bad decision.

Sometimes great players just make plays.

If AB allows him to drive and force OT (or win on an And-1), doesn't a similar thread get started if we lose?

Allowing a 30% 3PT shooter to try to beat us is the right call. If he missed, Wizard fans would be complaining about Wall playing hero ball and settling for a low percentage shot.

No.

AB is dealing with hip flexers and not moving quite as fast. End of the game were he's been chasing Wall and Beal all night. Wall is the quickest guy he's had to go against. Wall doesn't shoot the three ball well.

And if you look Wall took that from about 4 feet out. And AB had it still contested. Just a good clutch shot from Wall.

IF we had a better Rim protector than that gives AB the ability to get up on him more, because he has backup. You people who are saying yes are asking a lot out of him.

Absolutely no 3s allowed in that situation.  You should get a better than 70% chance of wining when up 2 with under 10 secs. Gotta make him drive.

Retrospectively, the answer is obviously yes.  That said, I don't think anyone on this board is qualified to judge Avery Bradley's decision-making on defense.  Wall made a good shot.  We move on.

No uncontested shots is generally an unspoken rule in all defenses.  Bradley got torched.
It was poor defense.  Wall should have been forced to drive, where there would have been help defense. Thus judged by Celticsblog and basketball fans all round the world.

Wall took a hero, win-lose shot....it was a stupid shot, really. It just happened to go in.

You're down two in an elimination game at home, with a great driver, penetrator, blur with the ball. Stupid, low-percentage shot.

We owe'em...let's get'em.

I don't like this team.

Generally the rule in that situation is no 3s and no fouls.  Wall makes it tough because if you force him to drive he can blow right by everyone getting quick easy 2 or possibly and-one.

He is a 30% 3pt shooter, and made a big shot.  Can't really get on Avery too much there.

I don't know.  It's pretty obvious that the only way to lose is a 3.  Get up on him.  Way more to lose by backing off.
Um, no.  There is another pretty obvious way to lose.  Let them tie the game and lose in OT.  You play the percentages and live with it.
