Win over 50 games
Get out of first round
Assimilate Al Horford
Growth of young core(Smart,Rozier,Brown even Kelly

If we closeout Washington tonight ,more power to them and even if it comes back to Boston
and even if we lose. Its been an exciting season.
It might even be a relief rather than get eviscerated by the Cavs.

The progress of Celts stash program has been productive and whatever gets added from the lottery and upcoming draft and free agency, this will more than compensate for how we finish off the playoffs.
I have said goodbye to Zeller,Jerebko and Green and its lottery ,draft, summer league and a off season of growth for Jaylen,Rozier and Smart.Maybe even Kelly.

The time difference tonight makes it impossible for this old man, to watch and i get that excited but the games are ending at after 3:00 in morning for me.So tomorrow morning, it will be Cavs or back to Boston and a day closer to lottery. tck tck tck

TP and I add some.

Be the first seed in the East. It's been due to the Cavs' failure, but people keep in mind the Celtics were nº 1.
Get a top-4 pick (well, it didn't depend on us, but it's a franchise goal being achieved).
Get into the ECF. Pending.

I thought that if the Cs:

1. Won their division
2. Made it to the ECF
3. Got a top 5 pick in the draft

Then that would be kind of the "dream season" for this team within realistic expectations. So far we're 2 out of 3 and I'm pretty pleased about that.

I'm sure there will be someone who will post about how if the Cs didn't win the Championship then the season was a failure. But that wasn't an overly realistic goal at the start of this year given the two super-teams out there. So the list above were my high-end-but-still-achievable hopes for this team.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

You can bet the national talking heads will continue to dis the Celtics as "lucky", "weakest #1", "sneaked into the ECF", etc.  Fact is they have made steady improvement for 3 years and they cannot control what other teams are doing in the Conference.

You're right, this is such an annoying narrative. It's not like the Cavs did a ton of resting. They played p--- poor in March, and weren't that much better in April.

If the Celtics win tonight, they'll have won 8 out of their last 10 playoff games. That's a pretty dang good in the playoffs, especially for this 'historically' week 1 seed. Let's get it done tonight, and I agree Rollie. Hard to look at this season as anything but successful!

It's me who has to apologize if my comments two days ago disturbed you, as it was just curiosity about your lack of capital letters or spacing paragraphs. I was told the reason and I'm very happy you write this way in relation to your health.

Also, this thread title is very descriptive (not just ante zizic  :P) and, as I said, I utterly share this point of view.

  • The Truth
everything that you said

BUT

i wouldn't have minded losing to the Wizards after we were 2-2, but only in a fashion of close games, not like houston last night. that would really leave a sour taste for the end of the season

AND

right now it is expected to be in the ECF, and it will be great experience to go against LeBron once again.

BUT

i would still be angry if the cavs swept us
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

This season has been a success and has set up the team to grow next year.

But

I really want to beat the Wiz.  I really want the Celtics be the first team to put any type of scare into the Cavs.

It may be an annoying narrative about being a weak #1 seed, but this thread topic pretty much validates the theory. What fan base for a #1 seed in the playoffs doesn't adjust their expectations to title contenders? On the other hand, I fully expect the Celtics players and coaching staff to believe that they can win it all.

I, for one, love your distinctive style, Rollie. I also love your obvious knowledge of the game and your tendency to run with your gut instincts regarding players and moments in the game.

I read tons of Freshmen college essays with less cohesion and insight--for me, you succeed when you write without punctuation or capitalization. They fail. It's all about content. Please do not feel pressured to change to appease some random people on the internet.

It will be a successful season for me once we reach the ECF. I would say the Celtics have a 85% chance of losing that series due to the lack of superstar power and the Cavs' Big 3 is healthy. We don't have a KD35 or Cousins to match their intensity.

Just win Game 6 tonight, and call it a season. Anything past the East Semis is extra to only help our case for the summer.

Somewhere, Rondo be like "If I was healthy the Bulls would've had swept the Celtics"
