He's perfect for our offense, if he develops the 3 point shot. He's an injury risk, he's seven feet tall now, our frontcourt with Horford and Simmons would be world-class. Philly gets fultz everybody's happy.

Can Simmons defend his position would be my biggest question. He looks like a one way player and I'd want him checked out medically! I'd rather have Fultz.

I'd trade the #1 for Simmons assuming he checks out medically.  However I doubt that the Sixers would trade Simmons for Fultz.

BTW, Fultz missed 5 or 6 games due to knee soreness so he needs to clear medical as well.

If the medicals check out.

Brilliant passer, very good rebounder, can gaurd multiple positions and play the 4.

To me, that was always one of Simmons' biggest pros -- that he can defend his position with also the ability to switch on other positions.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Yes, for sure. Not only does he fit a need, but he is also probably a better prospect than Fultz. I am not sure how Philly feels about Simmons; it seems they took him because they had to, but they could certainly use a guard and Fultz/Ball would slot in nicely for them - especially with Saric's surge at the end of this past season.

Not sure if Ainge would do it, but I definetly would. Simmons reminds me of Magic Johnson skills wise. Obviously I can't say he has the same mentality as Johnson, which is what made Magic into a top 5 player of all time.

Simmons mentality is my biggest question.  Will he put in the effort to be truly great?  Will he put in the effort to be a good defender?

Oh no, I hope this does not take on the same amount of posts as the Lonzo Ball posts.

I did not see him defending his position in summer league in not in the few games I watch when he was playing in collage. He has a nice game at the hoop, good rebounder, decent handle( needs work for the pros) and very flashy passing. I like to see this go together with an NBA team. I like a doctors report this ankle and info on his growth spurt he's having. Sometimes adding height can lead to minor or nagging injuries before the play is finished growing. Lot of factors. I did watch him matched up against Jaylen Brown in summer league and was not overly impressed with Simmons. I'm sure Danny would know best in something like this.
