Imagine if we had CelticsBlog in the '84 Finals.
This team does not in any way even borderline resemble the 80s Celts. We handled the 08 Celts pretty well.

Not really. There was plenty of panic against Atlanta.

While I'm not going to blanket CB as a fear mongering group, there are a handful of guys that like to jump to the critics side every time this team faces adversity. I would think the majority of people that post here hold some optimism for this team and the future.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

not much trouble.

I mean its a tough series against a good team, but we are up 2-1.

Weve started pathetically each game. If the team plays p---ed off tomorrow all of a sudden you are up 3-1 with game 5 at home.

I think it's these people who make CB both exciting and a stressful place :P

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We have to win 2 of 4 go advance.
They have to win 3 of 4.

We are in control of this series with a huge advantage.
Just 2 wins in 4 games and we're in the ECF.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.

Zero.

But the Wizards are definitely a quality team, though.

Once we match the same intensity from the CHI series - games 3 through 6 - we'll be fine.

And we WILL. BOS will bring it on Sunday and from here on out.

I think we need to win one of the next two games or we are toast.

game 5 is usually the game that gives you the winner of the series.

there's a million ways you can look at how this will play out. if you're Washington you could look at it as we've had big leads in every game and pretty much had a chance to win 'em all...and beal hasn't even played well yet.

if you're boston you're up 2-1 and pretty much stole those 2 wins with 2 more games left to play at home and you haven't even played a great game all the way through yet.

all i'll say is clearly the 1st team to win on the road is winning this series.

also has no one learned anything yet, in all their years of watching the NBA playoffs? every game is a must win, if you're going to be successful sweeping a team goes a long way.

My assessment at the start of the playoffs was that we were better than CHI but it was closer than most people think and that we had to play well to beat them.  We played well eventually and beat them.

Regarding Washington, I actually think they are a better team on paper but we are very evenly matched.  I feel like if they play their best, they can beat us on any given night.  If they figure out out to play well on the road, we could be in trouble.  If not, or if they put up a stinker in one of the games in Washington, obviously we win.

I don't feel this is overrating to one bad game.  Wall is really good and overall, the Wizards have more  talent.  We seem to be a little deeper.

I think that panic was justified. A 1 seed with the NBA's best record vs. an 8 seed with a losing record—no way that series should've gone 7 games.

Okay, I think it's pretty clear who is the better team in this series.  It's not even up for debate really.  How much trouble are we in?  Well, we have zero margin for error.  Lose a home game and it's over.  That simple.

Lol we are not in trouble at all. We still have home court advantage; Washington still sucks on the road; Boston is still a good team on the road; and we still have a 2-1 game advantage.

Once Brad finds the right combo to start off the game and not spot them 20+ point leads, we'll be fine. At the very least they still have to find a way to win in Boston, which they haven't been able to do in the past 2+ years.

Last year, the Cleveland/Toronto series was tied 2-2 when they went back to Cleveland for game 3. Were they in trouble then? Will Cleveland be in trouble tonight if Toronto wins at home? No, because they'll still be in the driver's seat and have both a series lead and home court advantage.

Game 4: So much for not spotting them a 20-point first half lead.

How is it even possible for a professional basketball team to allow a 26-0 run ?

Well the 2-1 series lead is gone, a lot of folks were leaning on that.  We don't have to win on the road to win this series but we have still yet to control a game in this series.  The wizards are heading back to Boston with a lot more confidence than we had when we went to washington

Yeah, Boston. Except for poor first quarters the Celtics out scored the wiz consistently until tonight.

Boston wins the series.

Celts are in trouble.

Wiz look like they have a clear upper hand through four games. First two were close and the next two in Washington were blowouts.
