There was a play the other night where a Washington player hit a 3 pointer, but the shot was negated because of a foul near the basket. (I think the foul went against Marcus(?).) The C's caught a break because the replay showed that the foul occurred before the player shot the ball. All they did was give Washington the ball out of bounds instead of giving them the basket plus a foul shot.

To me, it looked like someone barged into the Celtic player and not the other way around. Therefore, the foul should have gone against Washington.

I may be mistaken about whether it was the right call or not, but it got me thinking that oftentimes, when the NBA refs look at replays, you can plainly see they made the wrong call and that the other team caused the infraction. Yet, they never change fouls to the other team. They simply identify the player they feel made the foul or infraction and let it be.

Is there an NBA rule that stipulates that replays can't overturn a foul call? If so, then I understand why the refs don't do it. On the other hand, if that's the case, then the rule should be changed. Anyone agree, or disagree?

Totally agree,

Sometimes they take well over 5+ minutes assessing a foul

I feel at least for the playoffs every 50/50 foul called should be reviewed but as i stated above this would delay games even more immensely.

Another way could be is to have the coaches be able to challenge a call but if they are wrong they can't use it again so it stops them using it every play.

The Washington Post is claiming that IT violates his FTs by going over the line before the ball hits the rim. LOL

First it was Hoiberg, then Scott says we're holding Beal and now this.

They must really be out of answers for this team. Is this all they got...has Stevens and the C's got teams looking for excuses because they can't stop us.

In the playoffs I'd give coaches the ability to burn a timeout to challenge a call twice a game. Would still count as a timeout and they'd cut to commercial but no extra time would be wasted.

I mean thats a violation but does it have any effect on the outcome of the game? Has he ever rebounded a miss? The guy shoots 91%...

I mean, he does totally do it - especially after his first free-throw, but what you said is key. If (and it's a big 'if') he ever rebounds one of his misses, then maybe the refs could blow the whistle. But, he would really have to be trying to go after his own rebound not just have it bounce into his hands. Other than that, is has absolutely no bearing on the actual game/play.

There are violations on 99.9% of all free throws.  Or more specifically live ball free throws when players start jockeying for rebounding position.  Those size 19 sneakers are all over the line prematurely.

Completely disagree on all counts.  First, fouls are judgement calls.  No way replay should get into THAT too.  Ridiculous.

That, the play was called against Marcus.  And it was the right call anyway.  Also could have been a non call but should let Marcus get away with that high school play.
