Let me get this straight.

Ray Allen goes to Miami to continue his professional career because he lost his starting job with the Celtics. A whole lot of fans and his team mates hate on him because he left for the enemy.

Kobe Bryant reportedly has been helping the Celtics biggest star shine in the playoffs, and Celtic fans think this is praiseworthy.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookay.

I never hated on Ray personally, but for the broader fanbase, uh, one of those worked against the team succeeding and one is working for it.  Seems kinda relevant.

Is that not the very definition of hypocrisy?

No, it's the definition of fans of a team liking things that help the team and disliking things that hurt it.

You are missing the point.

Ray went to Miami to help Miami win, Boston fans upset because Ray left to help a rival.

Kobe is helping a rival player shine in the playoffs, Boston fans are thrilled with Kobe.  This is about fans reaction not about Kobe or Isaiah.

Fans acted like Ray had violated some moral code, but now celebrate Kobe. Do you get it?

By the way, why should Ray have gone anywhere else? Because you are a Celtic fan.

Why arent you asking Kobe to help any player but a Celtic? Because you are a Celtic fan.

I'm starting to think you're not getting it lol. Thank you fairweatherfan

The Point is simple

Kobe helps John Wall

"He is a piece of trash" or either no response or "eh whatever, what will kobe teach him to gun hahaha" some jab at kobe

BUT Kobe helps IT

"We got respect for kobe"

Exactly, I cannot believe some even wanted you sanctioned for pointing out the hypocrisy of fans. I could not stand KG and Ray Allen before they became Celtics. I was upset that Celtics traded for them, but once they started playing and winning I 'loved' them. Your point is well taken. Fans are hypocrites -- there is a reason Celtics fans thought the refs favored the Wizards while the Wizard fans felt that the same refs favored the Celts.

I get that fairweatherfan because I am a fan and have the same sentiment, but how does that change your perception of the individual person. You can hate what Ray did without judging Ray as a villain or bad person, and you can like what Kobe is doing without thinking he is now a worthy of sainthood. What do you think Laker fans think about Kobe for doing this?

It's funny isn't it lol, I thought the same thing ,

but what is even funnier is that you can't trust neither lol.

If we want to be real about It. All fans are biased towards calls..

I try to be as unbiased as it irks me nowadays to become some homer about everything.

If you are not watching the game and you see both fans arguing about calls or refs, the reality is that you cannot tell who is lying.

Which brings me back to my point. Fans are hypocritical. It's just how it is with sports.

They want to rag on me for this but at the same time are saying that Rozier was trash and we needed Portis.......or that Olynyk is a creampuff and needs to be cut after the game...

You cannot make this stuff up.

Obviously Lakers fans aren't helping. But I mean should I get mad at KG for helping clippers players OUT?

I just didn't like the way Allen left, he could've certainly been more upfront at least.. As fairweatherfan said, Kobe is helping out IT.

You guys seriouialy need to chill out lol. I love basketball, but it's at the end of the day, a sport. Kobe went out of his way to help IT.. As for people hating on olynyk or rozier, I didn't like either. But they have both proven their worth in the playoffs. I never really considered KO. I just wish he was more aggressive.

Kobe helped IT out, because he respects him. You think someone like him goes out of their way to help some scrub. I didn't like it at first, but I try to find positives in the negatives, because someone like IT, going through a family members loss is a traumatizing experience.

Please understand Kobe helping IT is not a bad thing. What the OP pointed out was that fans reaction to this highlights the hypocrisy of fans. Celtic fans that hitherto disliked Kobe will praise it and Laker fans that love Kobe would wince at it.

I agree, because I never personally hated Ray for leaving - I hated that he left for Miami, but I understood it and it was absolutely borne out as the right decision for him. But it made perfect sense for C's fan to hate the decision and for many of them to take it too far.

I don't see anyone here calling Kobe a saint or saying anything beyond it being classy to do. I agree with them. I'm just saying it makes total sense that fans like things that help their team and despise things that hurt them. It's not contradictory at all unless fanhood is taken as some weird morality play about viewing everything as objectively as possible, aka exactly not the way a fan would.

labeling it classy is the problem, the same act by Kobe cannot be classy to Celtics and classless to Lakers. The problem here is not fans been fanatics and reacting on pure emotional need to root for all things that benefit their team, the problem is fans not acknowledging that their opinions are emotionally based and trying to rationalize it as moral deficit of the offending player (reaction to Ray going to Miami) or moral surplus excess (reaction to Kobe helping IT). The truth is neither is true. Ray going to Miami did not demonstrate any moral deficit that Celtic fans ascribed to it, and Kobe helping IT does not demonstrate any moral deficit that Laker fans would ascribe to his action.

Why not? Celtics and Lakers fans have different goals and desires, it's consistent with one group's and inconsistent with the other's.

I agree, except for the part where it's a problem. The stakes of being irrational as a sports fan are basically 0.

Well, I kinda look at Class as an objective thing but I will give that in this day and age it may be subjective,

the reason fans irrationality is a problem is it leads to unwinnable debates, arguments, and sometimes fights. lol

First time (and probably the last) i can say "Thanks, Kobe" outside of the games where he was killing the Lakers by forcing shots. :P

I think Kobe is helping IT with how to lead, when to take over games and where the shots will be.

The Wiz can't make IT play defense because if he's playing Porter or Oubre it will take the ball out of Wall and Beal's hands. They don't want to run pick and roll with their spot up shooters, they'd rather run it with Gortat and Morris. The Wiz are in a tough predicament and based on how Brooks makes adjustments (see OKC vs Warriors last year) he may not have another move to make.

Our strengths are their strengths (perimeter offense vs perimeter defense) and the strongest man will win. It's really pretty simple. They can't find a bench in a week.

This makes me sick

Look at all of you. This just proves that fans are weak and soft.

Oh now we got to respect KOBE

But Ray Allen we throw away for good.

Sickening how some of you are. Kissing the feet of a guy who underservingly beat us and took a ring that should have been on our fingers.

Not to mention winning MVP when he should not have.

Rant much? LMBO...so those that big upped Kobe for helping out IT is soft and kissing his feet? How old are you 12? Anyone that's playing this game should consider themselves lucky to have an all time great take time to go over film and point out things that could help his game.  Also, you don't know any of these guys personal relationships with one another off court. Why would you get so emotional and take it so personal?

Listen I dont even have to go to sift through posts that you made to call you out on something childish.

I am not ranting, i am being sarcastic to the fans who throw dirt on our own players day in and day out, but now because of something so small , want give respect to him.

I don't even care about that at all.

I am just saying fans are fake,

If Kobe gave Rondo some pointers on the Bulls, Kobe would still be an enemy correct?

Although he is trying to help a player out.

Meanwhile we got people in here who want players cut during games lol.

I don't take it that seriously. I just like calling out fans who are so simplistic, so fake, that they can easily turn on a player in an instant.

you just have to say... you aint digging this

instead of saying members are "soft"

he assisted IT4...and you know what, IT4 game has looked "cleaner" these past few games...  it might not be all on Kobe..but it sounds like he definitely has helped

Don't you want the Celts to win in the playoffs?

Let's be real here.

Of course I do..

I guess now everyone wants to "warn" me

Again , people on here are way more and far more negative to the point of disgust when our players are not performing as well yet I am the bad guy.

It should speak volumes that the only person that's riddled with negative comments is you.

Please take your negativity elsewhere...

Who made you king?

Again , negativity in here is everywhere.

I didn't even single anybody out....my point is clear.

Main example is how everyone trashes on ray (guess that is not negativity?) Yet I can't offer my opinion about how fans can seem fake and soft.
No you can't because you don't know them.  They have a right to their opinion.  Do you too, but when that opinion is personal attacks, then no, none of us want to see that here.  However, I am not reporting you to the moderator since I'm not sure you have broken any CB rules. I think the court of public opinion will exert its weight.

No wonder IT is balling. He seems to have Hall of Famers going out of their way to call him left and right showing support.

If I had KG hyping me up before my work day, and then Kobe giving me tips on how to handle certain situations... well, I'd probably get fired. But I'd feel great about it!
