All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas told reporters Wednesday that the Black Mamba has been breaking down film with him over the phone ever since the Celtics’ Game 2 loss to the Bulls in the first round. Thomas credited Bryant for showing him things he hadn’t seen before.

“He definitely helps,” Thomas said. “He just tells me what he sees and what I should be watching for on film.”

Thomas stopped short of revealing what pointers Kobe has given him but praised the soon-to-be Hall of Famer for his mental approach.

“Mentally he’s on a different level than anybody I’ve met,” Thomas said. “When we were on the phone for 30 minutes, I emailed him my film and he watched every second. He was telling me what times to go to and what to look at in certain plays and things I didn’t look at when I watched film. Mentally, you can tell he’s one of the greatest ever.”

Thomas said Kobe wanted to go over film with him, calling the Celtics’ superstar and sending his condolences for Thomas’ sister Chyna, who died in a car accident last month.

Real recognize real.

Thank you Kobe.  :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

I wonder how Lakers fans would react to this?

I think it's a classy thing for Kobe to do (pains me to say) in the aftermath of ITs sister passing.

I hate Kobe but he's got to be one of the smartest basketball players ever. If he wants to go over film, great.

Absolutely disgusted.

I will say this about Kobe.

I never really hated him. I just had an disdain or dislike, because he was our rival. But you can't deny his greatness, and his ability to push himself beyond his own will. It helps to get that imparted wisdom, its like almost a cheat code in the NBA lol.

Celtics and Lakers maybe rivals, but they have mutual respect for each other, fanbase aside.

Kobe's got a basketball jones.  Must be tough for someone that dedicated to the game to shut it down.  Clearly the brain is still on the game.

This makes me sick

Look at all of you. This just proves that fans are weak and soft.

Oh now we got to respect KOBE

But Ray Allen we throw away for good.

Sickening how some of you are. Kissing the feet of a guy who underservingly beat us and took a ring that should have been on our fingers.

Not to mention winning MVP when he should not have.

You seem to love attacking fans who root for the same team you do.

I am not a big Kobe fan, but I never felt like he stole anything from the Celtics or was undeserving of MVP.

This is in no way comparable to the Ray Allen thing. I am still bitter about that towards Ray.

Rant much? LMBO...so those that big upped Kobe for helping out IT is soft and kissing his feet? How old are you 12? Anyone that's playing this game should consider themselves lucky to have an all time great take time to go over film and point out things that could help his game.  Also, you don't know any of these guys personal relationships with one another off court. Why would you get so emotional and take it so personal?
