Since I haven't followed Chicago all that much I never really knew how good Bobby Portis was as a player. On the other hand, before the series I thought Rozier was pretty decent and couldn't understand some of the bashing he takes on CB.

Reading both sides of the debate often made me wonder if Danny made the right choice.

Bobby had one terrific game in the playoffs, but otherwise I felt Rozier played much better.

In my mind the debate is over....Danny made the right decision in selecting Rozier.

I was never on the Portis bandwagon but the Rozier pick was out of nowhere. I actually had RJ Hunter as my choice lol!

Rozier was due a breakout year but given our depth at guard he's been surpressed. The noises from the team seem to have kept faith in him. He's been a good selection, I don't think others picked around him would have got more playing time than he does. He's also flashed some serious potential on both ends. I think it'll take until year 4 for us to see his true potential, if he's still on the team at that point.

For this debate, Portis had one good game in the series, he got exploited the rest of it. No argument for him over Rozier

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
TP for a fun debate.

Bobby Portis had an okay year last year, but Rozier also showed flashes of his potential - especially in the playoffs. Going into the summer, I was feeling okay with the Rozier pick. Even though Portis filled more of a need, I loved Rozier's athleticism/speed, ability to get to the hoop, and hit the outside shot.

Neither displayed much of an improvement this year and I think Portis absolutely should have. I was a Rozier fan before the Bulls series and [obviously] still remain one. I realize that we have a lot of guards on our team and he may have to go in a trade. While I really hope this doesn't happen, hopefully Danny at least gets good value for him based on potential future performance. He already mentioned Rozier by name in why he didn't trade for Ibaka, so that is a good sign from the pro-Rozier (Prozier...maybe?) crowd out there.

If Rozier worked on finishing at the rim he has the potential to be a starting PG one day. I swear he makes nasty cuts and moves sometimes but misses the easy roll in like every time.

I like Rozier... at times, he's still developing, I like his speed, and pace. I don't know if we needed another undersized guard, and I still don't know if he's a point or shooting guard. I'm not sure anyone knows at this time. When he's under control, he's effective for short minutes. I don't ever see him as a long term starting PG for anyone but a lottery team.

I liked Portis then, and I like him now, I like his size, and his toughness. He's not afraid to play hard, and get his nose dirty. He's starting to stretch his game out to 3 point land too, I think next year you'll see a more of a finished product.

Rozier is an improving second year player who is stuck behind a few other very talented guards. I Still love the guy.

Nope... I would put him on the same trajectory as a Shroeder. Immense talent to be a scoring guard... not sure if there is space here for him to reach his full potential though, especially if we draft a Fultz.

Ideally, I would trade him for Rondo for our 2nd unit (lol... this is a campaign I'm starting)

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19274210/chicago-bulls-power-forward-bobby-portis-played-3rd-degree-burn-foot

ESPN reported that Portis played through third degree burns on his foot.  The details are gruesome.

I'd give Portis another year before deciding if he were the better pick than Rozier, although I think that Rozier should be starting in this series over GG.

I see a lot of a young AB in Rozier's game. Gives me hope he'll turn into good NBA player.
ok fine

I got a lot of hate for being on the Rozier bandwagon. I'm tired of being right.

yeah, you did get a lot of hate for saying he was gonna be better than Marcus Smart this year.

seems pretty justified

I didn't vote because all of the choices were silly.  Why do I have to have an opinion on Rozier as a player in the context of where he was drafted versus Bobby Portis?

I got the sense at the time that most fans wanted RHJ. Rozier has turned out to be a credible pick; there just aren't many rotation players who were taken after him.

I wanted RHJ, but I didnt even really want him. I felt he was a reach at 16. The last player i really liked in that draft was Kelly Oubre, who still has a lot of potential, but really hasnt done anything.

I didnt and dont have a problem with the Rozier pick, but I do worry they he is to dumb to ever be a good defender, and has too much tunnel vision to ever maximize his athletic talent on offense.

His development is pretty important as its gonna be really tough to pay Bradley and Smart in 2 years.
