...But I truly think Sully would have/would help us a lot, especially in the playoffs and of course if he's somewhat in basketball shape.  We have zero rebounders on our front line.  Horford is a finesse player and Amir is just Amir meaning you never know what you're gonna get.  Kelly and Jonas...no need to even dig deeper into that, but one thing you could say about Sully is that he was definitely an inside presence.  Whenever we played against Dwight Howard, Sully would give him fits, as he would a lot of big men.  Think about what Howard did to us last week. Sully is a banger and he knows how to get to the glass and get the ball and he has great hands.  Keep him away from the 3-point line (and late night trips to Dunkin) and he could really be an asset.  Why not bring him on for the playoffs? It's sad that Mickey could be so dominant in the D-League and can't even sniff the court with the varsity team.  We will not go far getting smashed on the boards as we do.  #FREESULLY

Why not bring him on for the playoffs?

You already answered that question when you added the "if he's somewhat in basketball shape" qualifier.

He wasn't in basketball shape when Toronto had him, and he certainly isn't after going 2 months without playing basketball.  There's a reason that the Suns cut him and no one has signed him since

such a sad ending for sully. there is no doubt he is talented and can play in the nba in terms of physical ability. sigh.  :-[

Bwahahahaha, Ok ok so maybe I'm just desperate for some real rebounding going into the playoffs.

An out of shape Sullinger is still a better rebounder than we have on this team right now. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

I understand the feeling. I've been watching zizic highlights non-stop to convince myself that this team will finally be able to rebound next year.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Sully just ate that thought.   ;)

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Lets bring back Sully AND Big Baby Davis.

Not on the roster, mind you, but we could use a good halftime sumo fight.

Would he be a better rebounder? Yeah, probably. Would the team be better with him taking minutes from Amir, Al, Kelly, or Zeller? Absolutely not.

It'd be nice to improve our rebounding, but Sully would hurt us so much on both ends of the floor that the advantage from rebounding would be nullified.  If the goal is to out rebound your opponents then, yes, Sully would be a good choice.  But if the goal is to win the game, he won't help (ESPECIALLY when it's out-of-shape Sully).

Because, at this point, we can't. Teams cannot sign players that have played for another team this season.

As sad as it is to say, a fat, out of shape Sully has to bring more to this team than James Young who is a waste of space and not a part of our present/future.

Although, Young has been such a non-entity, that his worth can't be much more than the vet minimum, so maybe that was DA's plan all along (doubtful).

Honestly I think at this point, if he's going to have a career, he needs to go overseas for a few years and work his way back, then maybe he can find a place on somebody's bench.
