This Boston team could win the championship or get bounced in the first round. Neither would surprise me, really.

Let's just say it would be a helluva nice year, wouldn't it?

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. So I'll counter that question with this one:

If at the beginning of the year, someone said that Boston would be the #1 seed in the ECF and also have the best chance for the overall #1 pick, what would you say about the success or failure of that upcoming season?

Personally, I would have thought the person was overly optimistic and that would be a massive success. I was predicting a battle for the #2 seed and a top 5.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

That's the spirit.
Whatever you have 1% or 50% chance, you have to play to win it all.
I think this team believe in themselves. They look great with a healthy AB now.
AB will turn into a D monster this week end.

Go Celtics!

This is based on a shower thought I had a few days ago after we got walloped by the Cavs.  Now I know this is pretty much very improbable, but what if the stars align and we end up winning both #18 and #1? What would our offseason be like? How would you like it to be like?

I hope this ends up a fun discussion and not about how delusional this thinking is or how we are gonna end up with the fourth pick, lose IT to injury and get eliminated in the first round.
i just hope we don pull a Pistons - Milicic scenario :P

Well, Darko was the #2 pick but point taken.  hopefully it's not an '86 scenario where we win and have a Bias incident

BUT - to keep this on the upbeat side -- if we win AND get the #1 pick --> celebrate and mock every Laker fan you meet.  hell, join that scummy Laker blog site just to rub their noses in it for good measure.

It is not completely delusional, here is how it shakes out:

Boston gets CHI and WAS in 1st and 2nd rounds, two teams they matchup well with and can beat, and let's say they get both in 6.

CLE and TOR have an epic 7-game semis with multiple OT games. CLE wins.

Boston takes advantage of a completely worn down Lebron without access to HGH/supplements and uses homecourt ad to win in 7.

SA beats GSW, and I actually believe they could lose to Boston in 7 in the Finals.

The problem is that our only "hole" would be center and these are the 2017 free agent centers: http://hoopshype.com/2017/01/25/nba-free-agency-2017-centers/

There is a lot more talent at PF, but that would probably not sit great with Horford.  I suppose we could sign Blake or Milsap and draft Fultz.  We'd probably also have to sign Kelly, can we afford this team:

IT / Smart / Rozier
Bradley / Fultz / Demetrius Jackson
Crowder / Brown
Blake / KO / Yabu
Hoford / Zizic / Zeller

14 active, plus our 3 second rounders.

?

Cmon man

Ok... Only way its possible

Cavs lose in the 1st or 2nd round

Gsw make it to the finals but Durant is out

So we would need all of these breaks to win
That's 2 breaks...
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

This is kind of the discussion I am looking for, not these "cmon man" or "disney land" comments.

Do we trade the no. 1 pick to shore up our weakness and make the most of the window? Do we believe what we have is enough, keep Amir, Kelly, Zeller et al, draft Fultz and be done with it? Do we try to get another star, trade our depth for top heavy talent?

I'd sign up for that right now.

That's a great team IMO that's ready to duke it out against anyone. And set up for the future too with Fultz, Brown, Smart, Zizic, Yabu, and Nets '18.

This is not a "hopeful" or even a "its gonna happen", this is just a discussion of "What ifs". You are open to start a "what if we get swept in the first round and land the 4th pick" thread for all you want. There are valid discussions on what should Ainge do when either happens.
