I'd go 4/120. Not sure if he's worth 30mil a season to me but if he would accept it over taking a 5th year I'd be just fine with that extension. The money per season matters much less than the years to me.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

The level of disrespect is unbelieveable. This team is nothing without IT

The team would be just fine without IT.
If the C's get the top pick then Fultz is the future, whether you like it or not.
A guy who is five-seven cannot win an NBA championship as a starting pg, plain & simple.

Also, I'll take a team that is "nothing" without him, thank you very much.... He couldn't even hustle back on defense for half the plays against the Cavs, that was a really pathetic showing by him that night.

What are you gonna say if they lose again in the first round this year?
Or get smoked by Toronto?
You'll probably still want to max him out and hamstring the team for the next five years, all for a one-dimensional player who should be a second stringer.

What :o

The games we have played without IT this year say otherwise.

I'm not opposed to drafting Fultz, but he could also play at the SG position next to IT.

What is this based on? This argument can not even be substantiated, which makes it weak. It's clearly subjective - and you are entitled to have your own opinion - but I disagree with the premise. IT could win the NBA championship if he had better players around him.

I agree that he didn't put in an effort defensively, but he was the only player who delivered for us on offense. The rest of the team played a lot worse than Isaiah and I'm sure that Cavs would have won a lot bigger had IT not played.

Nothing. This current team is no better than the second round of the playoffs. Apart from IT, we are too inconsistent and we won't be able to deal with Toronto's big men anyway. Besides I haven't said that we could win the championship with this current team. IT is a player we should keep a hold on  because with the right players around him we would be able to make a lot of noise in this league.

I haven't even mentioned a 5 year deal, but I would give him a deal similar to Al Horford. He has earned it and he's worth it.
Second stringer? I dont know your definition of a second stringer, but the guy is 2 time NBA All-Star and is averaging 29 ppg.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

You either keep IT through next year and go for a championship, or you trade him in the off season.
I would never pay IT max money. He can't defend.

For the life of me I don't understand this line of thinking.

The guy is having an MVP-caliber season and those players get maximum contracts.  If he reproduces this next year he is getting paid the max.  Period.

Also, there is NO WAY any GM, let alone Danny Ainge, would trade a guy playing at that level when he is making $5M a year.  The only situation I can think of that would prompt this would be a 1st-round exit this year and a complete implosion next season - a combination of injuries and underperformance that makes it clear this team cannot compete at the highest level.  Since they have pretty much convinced me that is impossible, I would say that Danny trading IT is a near 0% probability.

What would you possibly get back for IT in a trade this offseason if you think he is not worth a max contract?  If you think this way - is it not reasonable to assume that people who run basketball teams for a living think the same way too?  List out the likely targets and get the salaries to match then say how IT will be traded.

And the last thing that is wrong with this opinion - if IT is not worth the "max" what is he worth?  I guarantee whatever fake number you could think of would put the Celtics over the salary cap, so it is really only the luxury tax that is an issue...and why does any Celtics fan care about that??

Why is this even being asked? The whole premise is lacking any thought! Think about it. If at your job your boss said I will give you a contract for the next two years at x amount but you knew that another company would pay you x amount for 4 years, would you take the contract your boss was offering you? Of course you wouldn't.

I am still amazed to see people posting that IT is just a sixth man or that he isn't worth or won't get at least a four year max contract. You people need to wake up. IT is a superstar and a starter. IT is going to get a max contract because that's what 30 PPG scorers make.

I second this, every word of it.

I to agree ... BUT ...  say what you will, I just don't think it will be with the Celtics.   Even if we miss out on Fultz or Ball and end up picking Josh Jackson or Tatum, I still think IT goes else where to get paid.

There is zero incentive for IT to take such a contract.   None whatsoever.

If Boston doesn't offer him a 4/5 year max next summer, someone else will. It really is as simple as that. IT is getting that max one way or the other.
