When Dwight Howard and the MAgic were at their peak (2008-2010) they were a top 10 offense thre years in a row.

They had arguebably the best rebounder and paint defender surrounded by about a million abover average 3 point shooters.

So yes, you can have a rebounding defensive minded big and still run a great offense.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I don't think Ainge was saying that rebounding somehow hinders an offense. I think he was saying that bringing in a player whose sole skill is rebounding doesn't help the team if he's a detriment everywhere else.

After this game (probably even before) one thing is now definitely crystal clear. No.1 seed would mean nothing to us if we talk about clash with Cavs.
My best scenario prediction is that we reach the EC finals and end the season with not being swept.

I just hope the Celtics get past the first round.

We missed our threes.

Truth.  Missed threes and missed free throws were the key.  Sometimes they fall, sometimes they don't.  Hard to win when they don't.

What surprised me the most about the cousins trade was, first, how little was needed to acquire him, and, second, how so many GMs were unwilling to pay even that price.

There must be more to cousins than his scoring and rebounding.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

To put things in perspective we haven't had a real talented center since Kendrick Perkins and he prematurely traded him away for sleep-jim Jeff Green.

Anybody remember Greg Stiemsma, Darko, Jermaine O'neal, and those other great Centers we've had?  LOL

Yea, Danny is a genius  ::)

There he is, good ole Clench coming through with a complaint about a trade that is 5 years old.

Good job!

Perk was not a bad player but I'd hardly call him a real talented center.  What Danny is suggesting is that centers that can shore up rebounding and not hurt your offense are rare and expensive.  So more than likely, getting a rebounder will hurt your offense.  Pretty much someone like Perk.  I don't disagree.

How quickly people forget and how little they seem to understand basketball. No one said that Perk was an All-Star caliber player. But he was a VERY GOOD player on the Celtics. His skill set was just what that team needed. People foolishly obsess over his stats, both with the Celts and, especially after he left Boston. Very misleading. He was a great fit here and was a starting center on a title team and would have been again if Danny had not screwed up so badly by trading him. He spent the next 3 years looking for a center for that group to make another title run.................. and don't even get me started on pillow-soft Jeff Green.

Just who would Perkins have been defending tonight??  Love? Frye?  He would be terribly ineffective most nights and would stifle the offense every night.  There is very good reason that all traditional aircraft carrier big men are getting run right out of the league.  Imagine Perk defending the high pick n roll or defending Lebron or Kyrie on a switch.

Rebounding was not even a factor against the Cavs.  They had 13 2nd chance points and the C's had 12.  Danny isn't wrong with what he said at all!

Perk would be putting Lebron and Kyrie on their ass - that's who he would have been defending. As if Horford covered the pick&roll and help-side at all last nite.

I dunno how important rebounding is big picture anymore.  We've seen lots of elite teams who rate poorly in rebounding categories.

Still, the Celts don't have a single player who I would characterize as a "dirty work" guy, and I think that's a problem.

They desperately need a Taj Gibson type, or heck, even a Kyle O'Quinn type.  Kenneth Faried could make a difference.  Somebody who can make plays inside.

What team are you watching. We got plenty of "dirty work" guys, maybe the toughest in the league in Marcus Smart. We need post players who are dirty work types while also having some athleticism and talent. Hoping the two big foreign stashes are gonna help this.

Matters a lot. Means less possession for the opposing teams, more fast break opportunities, more offensive possession. We will be so much better if we were just an average rebounding team.
