Let me start by saying that I am not and have not been a Paul George to the Celtics proponent. Would be be an upgrade over Crowder? Absolutely. But at the end of the day think I'd rather just roll with Jaylen and continue to develop from within.

But this Paul George stat gives me some pause. (Stolen from andy4H from Reddit)

Quote
Paul George vs. teams below .500: 19.8 ppg, 55.1% TS. Paul George vs. teams above .500: 27.4 ppg, 60.2% TS..

While it's certainly troubling that he doesn't seem to get up for inferior opponents those numbers versus the top guys are Elite. A lot of the time I watch our team slay inferior clubs like the Knicks and think that this is great but are they going to be generating the same shots against the Cavs? Well George can and if his biggest weakness as a player is that he doesn't seem to want to try against the dregs of the league, we already have plenty of guys that are more than willing to pad their stats on those games.

I've never really thought of Paul George as a true franchise altering talent on par with Lebron or Durant but if he's able to routinely throttle the league's best and has proven to be able to replicate that in the playoffs shouldn't we be looking to acquire him by any means necessary?

Is Paul George back to being a top 10 player? Should we sell the farm to trade for him? Would he resign here if we did?

This stat is entirely meaningless out of context. Weaker teams = more blowouts = more opportunity to sit out of the end of games. So there's need for more information before we make any pauses.

Did you see the game last night? He pulled a "2008 Lebron" and scored 20 straight points in the 4th quarter and OT for his team at one time.... with Lebron guarding him, who was essentially powerless to stop him. That's why I think we need someone like him. IT is an absolute elite offensive player, but you almost have to have an elite scorer on the wings now with the size to get off shots over bigger defenders, which isn't IT.

Of course, I'm not sure that I'd give up Fultz for him, and he'd certainly have to make it clear that he's going to resign here long-term. But he'd certainly be an excellent addition to our group.

Paul George is a player that I would move a lot for. I love his versatility to play the 2-3 and even four comfortably with his size.

Indy's signing of Lance Stephenson to a new 3 year contract means PG13 aint going anywhere.

PG to me is a loser that can never go past Lebron, even when he had his support or when the Cavs is in slump, like CP3 in some way
I don't want to give up too much for that kind of guy

I'm sorry but Paul George is more than just an "upgrade" over crowder.  And he's likely better than Jaylen will ever be.

So you certainly have to consider giving up major assets for guy.

Agreed---but ONLY if he agrees to sign an extension...which is uncommon in today's NBA

If we show PG how far we go in the playoffs maybe he changes his mind about goin to LA..

I wouldn't move a lot for him, he has 1 year left on his deal and would be stupid to extend outside of Indy.

this is dumb.
George is a 26 year old and in his 6th full NBA season.

George has lost to Lebron in the playoffs 3 times in 6, 7, and 6 games as a 22-24 year old. In that stretch the Heat won two championships and lost a third to the Spurs. James is now 32.

Let me take you back 7 years.

Lebron James was 25 years old and had just completed his 7th full NBA season.

James has lost to Pierce and Garnett in the playoffs 2 times in 7 and 6 games respectively as a 23 and 25 year old. In that stretch the Celtics won a championship and lost in 7 to a the Lakers. KG and Pierce are now 33 and 32.

with this logic, kg was a loser for being the best player on the timberwolves but never doing work in the playoffs

Lebron praised PG13 for the "battle" they had in the double-OT thriller.

I would love PG13 here, but the two things that make me hesitate is his "Lakers-Love" (willingness to sign with LAL in 2018), and the fact that the C's adding PG13 alone still doesn't make us final contenders, BUT adding PG13 + another star means Bradley + Crowder + most of our bench besides maybe Smart and Brown are gone... That's too much.

Ya Fultz would be a tough sell but anyone else would be on the table. There was that Isaiah Thomas thread a while back asking who people would trade IT for and while it's difficult to imagine, a trade to Indy might make sense. They should have no problem maxing Thomas out and it would allow us to hand the keys to Fultz day 1 and avoid a potential power struggle.

Fultz, George, Horford is one [heck] of a core to build around.

They don't think he's a loser up in Toronto. https://youtu.be/aVbTjxYsnnw
