Yes, but they gave up some huge offensive rebounds down the stretch, nearly cost them

So did the Cavs tbh.

Biggest worry for me was not the rebounding. It was the super star calls that Irving and LeBron were getting in the 4th

Lebron once went FIVE GAMES without being called for a single foul.

Lol

And when there is a foul called against him, he goes nuts, two hands out, crybaby face

That crybaby face is like Reds cigar, when you see it you know you're going to win.

NBA released their 2 minute report data a few weeks ago and they determined refs have actually treated lebron unfairly in a negative way.

shocking.

I am probably in the minority but I think rebounding is dramatically less important in the era of the three point shot than it was back in the 80's and even the 90's.  At least the old dominant kind of rebounding big men aren't as important.  With so many long shots, rebounds no longer fall in that area within 7ft or so of the rim as often.  Therefore, inside positioning becomes a negative at times and teams that keep their guards around to rebound long shots are going to gobble up a lot of the rebounds that once upon a time were the domain of the 5's.

Absolutely abysmal. Makes all these games close when it shouldn't be. Second opportunity after second opportunity. Terrible

Correct answer.  Many of the top teams in rebounding percentage are doing poorly in the standings.  Only GS and San Antonio of the top 10 teams by record are in the top 10 for rebounding.  By contrast, the top 5 teams by record are also the top 5 teams by TS%.

Would we be better if we could rebound better? Of course, but only if it doesn't come at the expense of being worse offensively.

Yes Smith has something left- tons of jacked up 3's at a horrible percentage ;)

I think I read that he's stinking it up in China.  Not an NBA player anymore.

Somebody tweeted they are 18-1 when they out rebound the other team. I'm surprised they out rebounded opponents in that many games. Doesn't seem that way.

That was an impressive win last night. But only by a few points at home and the Cavs were missing Love. The rebounding was pretty even, but you can see that a rebounder would make a big difference with the Celtics. Most of their games are close. I keep pointing to the Russell analogy in '57--they became unbeatable when he was getting 15-20 rebounds a game.

Ainge has chosen to sit on his assets and not improve the team until the summer. Too bad, because it's going to be another frustrating season for a lot of fans. And maybe a few players.

Yeah, typical Celtics Blog commentary with miserable timing.

Actually, the Cavs had more rebounds, if you count the team rebounds. Something like 56-51, or thereabouts.

The argument, by the way, that rebounding detracts from the offense, is nonsensical.
Rebounding is obviously an integral part of the offense and defense. You have to get the ball to score.

The best teams have a balance of all the key parts of the game. They have rebounders. The Celtics aren't quite there yet.
