What a talent... But always injured...

Out of the many scary knee related injuries only 1 player I know has been able to stay healthy post surgery - Westbrook

For sure I would stay away from Giles

yea, so much talent but so injury prone, he missed 2 full seasons and is on minute restrictions. I hope this guy don't turn into another Greg Oden, just so much talent but cannot stay healthy

Body cant handle the stress of running, jumping, twisting

Not sure if extensive leg development may help

I know it isn't shocking, but it is still sad for the kid.  He seems a lock to be a future all-star if he can keep healthy.  Hopefully this isn't as bad as it sounds.

The scariest part is that he didn't start playing basketball until 15 so there are very few miles on his body and already these types of significant injuries don't look good for Embiid, I would be interested to know if these are impact or non-impact injuries as non-impact would be more his natural biomechanics which could be career threatening.

Good question

Don't worry Sixers fans, it's not like you just traded the only other defensively competent center on your roster for peanuts.

I think Embiid will do some great things in this league, but he's gonna be like Yao ... will have to keep his playing time limited and take significant chunks of time off.  His career will be majorly shortened if they don't have a quality backup behind him playing 20-24 mpg.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Embiid was a volleyball player with professional aspirations before he switched to basketball so not as few a miles as you would think.

Embiid did hyperextended his knee during the Portland game.  After doing so, he was checked out, allowed to return to the game and suffered a subsequent fall.  He sat 3 games but then was allowed to play in the nationally televised Houston game playing 28 minutes without any  apparent issues.  Afterwards he's been experiencing knee swelling.

Hard to know what is actually going on.  They've said Embiid's knee injury is a bone bruise and slight meniscus tear which shouldn't be that bad.  However the Sixers FO have no credibility.  With Embiid, Simmons, Okafor and Noel's injuries, their statements and projections haven't matched reality.

I tend to think this setback isn't that significant.  However if they actually have serious concerns about Embiid's long term health, Colangelo was a complete idiot for trading Noel for relatively little.  Paying Noel 4yr/80M to be a backup wouldn't have been optimal but it looks like it may have been prudent.

There is clearly something wrong with him structurally, just as there was with Oden (one leg longer than the other). His body simply doesn't seem meant to play basketball. Even watching his games there are countless times that his knee buckles without contact.

This is a prime example of the lack of stability of his legs. It's this constant non-contact buckling that would scare the hell out of me if I were a Sixers fan.

It will be interesting to see if they extend him this off season.

It's a real shame because, when he's actually out there, he's a real blast to watch.  His footwork is incredible for someone his size.   A very fun basketball player to watch.

such a talent. he is a fabulous basketball player. i hope his legs and feet and all other parts manage to hold up. it is fun to just watch him play.

but so far, the signals have not been good in terms of his health. i wish him the best.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I hope this is just the 76ers trying the process one more year. He's my favourite player outside C's
