In addition any deal would need to include Monta Ellis contract in the deal with Amir Johnson's expiring deal coming back in return.

Hell no...Boston does not need anymore small guards

You're not building a contender before Isaiah / Horford are in their mid-30s without taking a major risk, is what I'm saying.

I just don't think it happens.

If you want to play it safe and build the youth up around those guys, then this team is a bridge to that future young team.  That future young team will have a lot of draft talent, but it may not be better than the team we have now.

You're already a 2 seed in the East!  If you stand pat, you'd still be adding pieces to a team with IT & Horford along with getting the continued growth of guys like Crowder & Smart going forward.  They'll never be "that young" team.  Certainly not in a Philly sense.   There is zero indication that this team is plateauing if they don't do anything right now.

And the Celtics will become a #4 seed if they stand pat because the Wizards and Raptors became significantly better in just one week. And look out for the Hawks who just added Ersan Ilyasova.

This is the same Celtics' team that became the second seed coming into the break.  We have not gotten worse.  It's questionable whether the Raptors can make up the 4 game gap after adding Ibaka (depending on how quickly they can acclimate him), and you think that freaking Ersan Ilyasova will help the Hawks make up a bigger gap? Give me a ****ing break
I'm bitter.

Ellis would be a [dang] good 6th man, plus he will be expiring soon.

If he thinks the Lakers are close enough to the finals in the West...he is an idiot. The Lakers are a LONG way away. Nobody on that roster is even close to being star worthy...plus Philly has their pick here

Sources: Pacers asking for 3 of 4 from group of Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart, and Jaylen Brown + 2017 Nets pick for Paul George.

Probably not a real "source."

Still, if that's the case, then uh ..

Bradley, Brown, 17 for George?

I'd do it, but if they have very strong indication he wouldn't re-sign, probably not worth it.

With significant rebounding and defense issues, I completely disagree.

So where does the PG trade giving up Crowder, Smart, Brown, and the BKN pick get you this season?

I'm not moving three of those pieces to Indiana. Two of them, sure, and the Brooklyn pick. Three is nuts, and I frankly doubt the report.

George is a star. Period. I have faith they'll add a rebounder if they do that deal, and that moves the needle near Cleveland.

Good enough. The 18 draft looks good, so the draft nuts can shift their unhealthy obsession to that one.

The idea that permeates this board that Ainge is going to draft a champion is ridiculous. Not. Happening.

I am with you up until the last part. 2/4 makes sense. We get a foundational piece, while retaining a pick to flip for another good player. That would put us in the highest stratosphere.

I honestly believe if it comes down to it, we would be able to draft a championship level team. The problem is there is a ton of uncertainty. The potential is greater, but the floor is also more likely and lower.

Sam Amick is reporting that George is "hell-bent" on going to the Lakers if he's not competing for a title in Indiana.

Now, how much of that is the usual LA spin I don't know, but I'm not all that interested in trading for him if that is truly the case.

No, he's horrible. When is the last time you watched him play? He's not efficient offensively and atrocious defensively.

Wow that sucks. It doesn't make any sense. I don't get players these days.

OUCH!
i would have a problem giving that much for 20 year old Michael Jordan

This is why the Celtics can't get a trade done. They way overvalue their picks/players

I'd still do it, call his bluff.

Paul George hasn't been the same player since he broke his leg... He was in the discussion as someone who could compete with the KD's and Lebron's of the world before that.  I would NOT give up 3 players and a lottery pick for him.

I think you're misreading, the rumor is they want 3 of the 4 PLAYERS plus the pick. So add Smart or Crowder to your package, and also take Monta's contract for Amir's.

Denver made a big offer for PG13.

Pacers declined.
