Even though he has been in Indiana for many years, Bird will always be our guy, a Celtic. His star player, Paul George is probably the 2nd best player in the east and many would like him on their roster. If he went to L.A. I would very disappointed, like many on CB. Even more so, cause our legend would decide to do so, to fuel our eternal opponent. I know LB must look at the deal as a whole and his team is an absolute priority, but L.A.? I really hope he passes his last career assist to Danny. Poetic and appropriate.
What is your sentiment?

Why should he be looking out for our best interest?  He's the Pacers' president.  Giving us preferential treatment because he played here would be grounds for him to be fired from his job.

I don't know that Larry has any allegiance to Boston anymore but I know for certain he doesn't feel anything good for Los Angeles. I doubt Larry would cut anyone a break in a trade but I doubly doubt he'd give the Lakers anything.

It would hardly surprise me.

I am not convinced at this point that Grousbeck is even willing to spend the money to acquire a player of George's caliber. Looks to me at this point like they probably signed Horford expecting Durant, and probably regret that move right now.

As long as they can be relevant and get the Green Teamers to buy into constantly kicking the can down the road while the alleged assets mold ...

I'm convinced this was the plan.

As the inaction continues to mount, so am I.

Exactly.  I'd be mad if he turned down a big offer from us for a minor return from LA, but if he got a return like Ingram/Randle/Russell for George then I'd be very happy with him.  A former Celtic fleecing the Lakers would be something worth celebrating

Of course, there would be those that were livid because we didn't trade both Nets picks, Smart, Brown, Crowder, and Bradley for him, but it's best to just smile and nod at them
I'm bitter.

They need to recreate the KG move. The good thing is Ainge and Grousbeck know these types of moves can work and they can draw on that.

George is a guy who can work with IT and still be effective. He could be a great Celtic and IT\George\Horford give you balance without duplication...just like Allen\PP\KG.

A blockbuster move doesn't scare them because they've done it.

I don't think Bird would ever pass PG13 to the Lakers IF the Celtics wanted him. I'm just saying. Bird is probably getting calls from Russell, Cousy, Hondo and Heinsohn reminding him where his blood comes from.

I wouldn't care. Bird was was paid to play basketball for the Celtics many years ago; he played his ass off and earned every penny that was paid to him. He is no longer employed by the Celtics and has no reason to treat the Celtics different than any other team in the league.

It would be a betrayal IMO. I mean c'mon. Do a solid. Unless Ainge is not offering up one of the Brooklyn picks, I don't see how Bird would do a deal with the Lakers. Would be disappointed in him. He is a Celtic, and that is how everyone sees him.

I'd lobby to add a turnover to Bird's career total.

I'd be disappointed if Larry gave him away to anyone, especially L.A. If we get out bid then that is on us.

Wouldn't make a lot of sense imo.  George isn't on the Lakers' timeline.

Paul George is way overrated.

Skill wise he is an enormous talent to put up points.I see him as cog in a winning team , but more like a better version of Paul Milsap .....but he is not the Emotional leader of a team .  A leader , but in play , not so much in charge on court .  He is more of a follower than leader.

So far I've not seen him have that drive the great ones have to win .   Like Kobe , KG , MJ

I like Butlers spirit and relentless drive for playoff situation.  I like Browns winning instincts .
