http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/02/17/five-realistic-trade-targets-for-celtics/

The names are Andrew Bogut, Nerlens Noel, Taj Gibson, Kyle O'Quinn, and PJ Tucker.

Quote
Kyle O’Quinn, New York:
Likely cost: Terry Rozier, lower draft picks.

Quote
P.J. Tucker, Phoenix:
Likely cost: Second-round pick or protected first-round pick.
Quote
Andrew Bogut, Dallas:
Late-first round pick, plus a young asset (like Jordan Mickey).

Quote
Nerlens Noel, Philadelphia:
Likely cost: A Terry Rozier-type of player and a late first-round pick.

Quote
Taj Gibson, Chicago:
Likely cost: Late first-round pick.

I actually like all of them, and they definitely fill a need.

In the case of O'Quinn, he's under contract for next season as well at 4M/Year (bargain).

Everyone else is an expiring.

I do feel like Noel's price is higher than that, but who knows.

I would love either PJ Tucker (wing depth) or O'Quinn (Bogut's injury history, this season as well, is starting to sway me away from him now; I'm not sure how much better Gibson is than Amir; Noel I think will cost more as they like him with Embiid and they are shopping Okafor, so not sure that's a real option).

Thoughts?

(And you can read the descriptions and reasoning for each player within the article in the link above - they are short and concise)

I voted KOQ.

EDIT: He's averaging 6.4/5.6 and 1.4 blocks in 15 mpg.

That being said I'd love to add Trevor Booker too. That would help our frontcourt tremendously and give us great balance.

TP to the OP for a good thread/poll.

O'Quinn or Booker would be interesting pickups, but if we are dealing with New York I would like to go after Willy Herangomez.  The price would certainly be a little higher, but he would be a great player to add.

I would build the offer around Rozier and our 2018 first, likely in the mid 20's.  See where it goes from there.  Maybe add James Young to the deal.

I agree,  like both KOQ and Hernangomez. The stats are almost identical for both even in mpg, KOQ with more blocks, though, and I like his toughness.

Adding either of those AND Booker really helps us up front to make a strong run in the East.
Would love to see that happen.

Just saying, for those voting Noel, what do you imagine his price to be now?

I certainly doubt it's just Rozier and a late first anymore..

I was surprise to see O'Quinn as popular choice, because he can rebound, and he's young, and developing.
While not a true center, he'd really help. IMO He'd be a fan favorite for sure.

I went with Noel, here we get a chance to actually see how he fits in before we give him an offer. I feel once he gets to Boston, and settles in, he'll resign.

He gives us flexibility on the defensive end, covering multiple positions, athletic rim protection, steals, and interior quickness. No... he doesn't stretch the floor, but he still is young and can grow his game.

With this years draft being so PG heavy, the loss of Rozier is something we can live with.

I said Noel, but Philly will have to drop their price. Plus Ainge may not want to feel obligated to re-sign him off season. He still thinks he can fry bigger fish.

The other is O'Quinn, who probably can be had for less. But he has a very friendly contract left--3/$12M. A better value than any of the Celtics bigs. I don't know what Phil would take for him. Pretty much any no. 1? He needs picks.

If he's going on the cheap, Bogut would be the best bet, if he's healthy. I don't see Chicago as a friendly trading target. They are going to price Gibson too high. Dallas has a Celtics connect, and probably is amenable to a fair deal for Bogut, not costing much.

I agree that isn't a realistic trade for Noel especially since we don't have another 1st in this draft.  I don't think Rozier and the Memphis 19 1st would get it done.  So I went with the O'Quinn trade.

Sign Noel in the off season.

I think that's been the problem with Noel all along. They've been holding out for too much, since they think Noel will re-sign in Boston, being a local who has made it known via twitter he wants to play there. Outside of the Colangelos, there is dislike for the Celtics in Philly based on their old rivalries going back to Russell-Chamberlain and Larry vs Dr J.

It's possible Okafor has entered the picture, who they can probably get cheaper. He's young, without much experience, and maybe Stevens thinks he can teach him some defense. The kid can play offense and rebound some.

Yeah. They can always get a Bogut now, and wait for Noel off-season, if they can't sign a bigger fish. Bogut is a valuable playoffs guy, if they can keep him healthy.

Noel will be a restricted free agent.  So how much are you going to offer him to make sure the Sixers don't match and to not get outbid by teams like the Nets and Mavs?

I want no part of Okafor after seeing him play the Celtics.  His defense is pathetic on the pick and roll/pop.  He would destroy us defensively and we weren't playing that great to start with.  For Noel, we'd have to be able to carry him on the offensive end.  He doesn't stretch the floor at all and in theory that could clog up the paint for IT.  Maybe it gives us a better finisher at the rim so IT gets more assists but that isn't taking advantage of what IT does best.

I think Bogut gives us the most of what we need, while not costing us much and not burdening us into the future.  If he fits, great we can try to work out a lower cost deal next year, if he doesn't fit just move on.
