Vittorio Gallinari, Danilo’s father and agent, said that the Houston Rockets are interested in his son.

“Danilo always said that he loves Denver and he wants to remain in Colorado. But in the NBA a player with a contract can’t decide. The franchise decides for him” Gallinari told Il Cittadino. “It would be fascinating to see Danilo Gallinari with the Clippers, the Celtics or the Raptors. Teams that need a player in his role (Raptors not anymore because they have signed Serge Ibaka). Orlando would have less appeal” Gallinari added. “I never called Mike D’Antoni (Rockets head coach) but I think that the interest of Houston for Danilo comes from Mike’s desire to coach him again” Gallinari ended.

Danilo Gallinari will likely opt out of his contract after this season to become unrestricted free agent in July.

I don't believe naming the Celtics is merely coincidence as Stein reported the interest from Raptors and Clippers a couple of days ago.

League sources say Danilo Gallinari is a prime Nugget to watch between now and the deadline. The Raptors and Clippers are among the teams said to be monitoring Gallinari’s availability, amidst a growing belief that Denver is prepared to move him.

Plus, we did have interest before. This was back in July 13, 2015.

Celts/Denver discussed Gallinari deal, but nothing doing as of now. Some conflicting talk from sources, but may want to keep an eye on this.

The second coming of Jeff Green, except he doesn't play defense, can't stay healthy, and isn't as good at PF. Also, I'm pretty sure we have enough wings right now.

If you really believe that Gallinari and Green are equals then should really consider taking advantage of times when NBA league offers free week promotions.

Gallo has a $16.1 million player option next season.  The question is this: if he told you at the time of the trade he was opting out, does that make you want him less or more?

Less.

It would make no difference, to be honest. Gallinari, as a 16M expiring, would be a positive that would still net a return if the best case scenario presents itself and we do land someone during free agency. Similarly, his expiring contract also allows us it much easier to make a trade for a star type player during the 17-18 season.

Jeff Green comps are really tired, unless comparing someone who had open heart surgery and missed a over a year with rehab and never came back as strong....

More.  However, the cost in acquiring him would need to factor in that he is a rental.

I don't see it happening. I'd like to deal him for Zeller, Jerebko and a pick, but with how young Denver is it's unlikely that they want picks.

What is the motivation for Denver to move him? They are pursuing a playoff spot and are stocked with young players.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Gallinari off the bench (soaking up all of Jerebko's minutes) and being a legitimate go to guy that can get to the basket, draw falls, and spreads the floor would be ideal. Or you can plug him in as the starting 4, having Crowder taking the harder cover, would also work.

As for his defense, per numbers he's good in isolation, but struggles in PNR. The PNR could be much improved with the way our guards fights through screens, though.

Quote
He was best in isolation circumstances, and was in them nearly 15 percent of the time. Opponents averaged just .77 points per possession in isolation and shot just 37.5 percent against him. His length was his greatest asset there, because Gallo’s first instinct is always to give ground in order to not get beat to the rim.

Quote
Gallinari struggled in in pick-and-roll. Whether he was guarding the ball handler (where opponents shot 47.4 percent), or the screener (where opponents shot 58.7 percent), he did not do well. He was easily screened in many instances, and late out to shooters as he, again, sank down in the lane and relied on his length to harass shooters.

They might just be done with him. Hes completely unreliable due to his health, hes not that good on defense, he will never be the scorer he was once projected to be. His health leaves him at a very old 28 and the rest of their "core" in Jokic, Murray, Mudiay are all like 5/6 years younger than him.

Gallo is a clutch player. He would be a great help for the playoffs... Even if coming off the bench

Would give up expiring salary and some middling first-rounder for him if I was confident that he would not exercise his player option.

Great words from a great man
