rest him, and Bradley...I rather lose 2 games with our key players getting extra rest heading to the all-star break with extended rest than rush them back and aggravate an injury

I want a healthy squad heading into the playoffs
I called in sick today at work, hoping they will offer me a couple more weeks paid time off... apparently it only works in the NBA.  :-\

I LOVE Jaylen's potential, but let's face it - he's not really helping the team win.  He tends to have 1-2 charging calls a game, and isn't shooting lights out or doing things to significantly help the team win.  He's also a poor finisher.  Gerald Green, assuming he's healthy enough to go, is a more than adequate fill in for Brown.  Now, if Green is also out, there is a decent drop off to James Young.

This is not meant to be a knock on Brown.  I think his future is sky-high, but he's a rookie and at this point in time, this is not a huge loss.
I think to say hes not really helping them win is an overstatement. He isnt a crucial piece like AB, Smart Thomas Horford or Crowder, but hes done a really nice job filling in for Bradley.

Ironically I think hes more consistent as a 20 year old rookie than the 31 year old Gerald Green. I also think Brown is better at defense, which is really important.

That said, Brown is no better than probably the 8th or 9th best player on the team at the moment so its really not a big deal as you said and would be a non-factor if AB were not out at the same time.

He needs to come back ready to challenge AB for that spot. I've been a bit disappointed that he has gone away from the mid-range game, I know Brad Stevens probably doesn't care all that much about a different way to score besides threes and layups. But there was something real Kobe-esque at the beginning of the season... that mamba magic, ya know?

Sign Nader to short contract

Dude can help.

They can't. And it is dumb to do so. Won't make any sense to waste a year of control for a few months where he wont help at all. Its not easy for a rookie to adjust to schemes of NBA teams, its only recently that Brown has looked really comfortable, what more for a rookie joining a team in the middle of a season? Heck even some vets take some time to adjust.
No-one cares about "years of control" in the land of short-term contracts and no arbitration.  ;D ;D ;D

It also affects cap at end of the year for max free agent play. Every little bit counts...
It doesn't, unless you're planning to keep him after end of season. And if you don't want him because of the cap hit, then you should have no problem letting him go. That doesn't really change.

If he's not a keeper why sign him? Just grab a vet off the scrape heap for the rest of the year and we already have all 15 players signed and did you watch the last game James Young played? Why is a dude who has never played in the NBA the answer  to any problem this team has. Nader is not a defensive center who can block shots and rebound.
If he's not a keeper, why worry about losing him at the end of season? You sign him because (or if) you need help now. He was with the team in camp and has been within the Celtics system throughout the entire season so far. That probably counts for something.

Man, I just know this kid is more Kobe than Jeff Green, I can just SEE it. I'm hoping the big highlight of his rookie season to be him saying "gimme that rock" and waving off IT4 in the 4th... Even if he airballs it, that will be a big moment for this club.

Nader wasn't with the team in camp.  That would made us lose his rights, so Danny didn't invite him

If you're looking for a small forward that played for the Celtics in training camp and in the Celtics' system in Maine, that there's no chance Danny would want to retain after this season, you should be looking at Jalen Jones, not Nader
I'm bitter.

Love it.

Give Smart and Green more minutes so they can build more confidence and rhythm.

We can go the rest of the year trying to give Jaylen and Rozier more confidence/rhythm to make them into NBA players, but really what would their best-case contributions look like at this point in their development?

I know I'm not going out on a limb by saying it's nowhere remotely close to Smart or Green's best-case contributions if either one could find their jump-shot consistently.  Just seems like better money (minutes) spent.

I believe Brad will go to a 8 man rotation in the playoffs, with Smart getting ~30 minutes, Kelly ~25, and Green with ~15 (Jerebko could play if Amir is struggling).

I think the 2nd unit's offense should be 100% focused around Smart and Kelly, as opposed to relentlessly swinging the ball side to side like the starters (in part because they're simply not as talented, and also partly because Rozier/Brown/Jerebko/Kelly are combined, too unselfish) .  Just put any 3 shooters behind the 3 point line and let them do their work in the pick and roll.

Having Brown, Rozier, and Jerebko passing the ball around the perimeter and then occasionally driving isn't doing a lot for us, especially when Smart, Kelly, and Green are such special offensive players.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Keep laughing Koz, because you are dead wrong. If he was in the camp we could not stash him.

That sucks but it's a smart thing to do, especially when the remaining two games are against the Mavs and the Sixers

and Bulls
