Why wouldn't NyK just keep Love?  Makes no sense.  They don't want good players?

They don't have the assets to land him without adding a 1st. Melo is clearly not enough.

I heard it said by some of the voices that I trust that Love is too similar to Porzingis for New York to add him to their core. Allegedly they want wing talent or a scorer at the guard position to take pressure off KP.

Player like Love and KP (PF/C's that shoot 3 and either defend or rebound at an elite level) are rare and having two of them on your roster is at best a poor allocation of resources and at worst a redundant log jam.

Not that CLE would ever do business with us, or NY would part with KP, but for fun... we consolidate assets for KP, New York rebuilds on the fly, CLE swaps Love for Carmelo + KO.

to Boston: Kristaps Porzingis, Chris Anderson, trade exception ($3.1M)
to New York: Kevin Love, Avery Bradley, BKN 18, MEM 19
to Cleveland: Carmelo Anthony, Kelly Olynyk, Jordan Mickey

If Bron really is pushing the Cavs to trade Love for Melo, he is such a whiny baby, just as Barkley said.  In all the teams he was on, he always got what he wanted, even as management got way over the luxury tax.  In his first stint with the Cavs, he made the Cavs trade for Antawn Jamison and others.  After the season, he just complains that his team does not have enough pieces.  Barkley's statements are all true, and Bron needs to shut up and play.  His championship team from last year all returned and he is whining about not having playmakers.

This is probably the worst rumor I've seen all year

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
No reason to give up any more than we would have in a Melo deal to Boston since NYK is still giving up the same asset. Some are saying that we would need to send something to CLE, but why would they move Love for Melo if they think it is technically making them worse? The Minnu 2nd would be more than enough.

And no way on Bradley, Crowder, Brown, Smart, or BKN picks - that is just craziness.

We are up to a good laugh if this rumor turn out to be true.
I won't mind getting Love for cheap.

New York writer.  From a trashy New York paper.  Is somehow plugged in on the Cavs.  Come on.  This was a ridiculous rumor from the get go.  Clearly fed to Isola by someone from the Knicks.

James has said the rumor is not only trash but so is the writer.  I don't think he comes back that hard if there was any truth at all to this.

Never going to happen. Not so much a Melo to Cleveland trade, but not one that would land us Kevin Love.
Maybe just maybe Lebron thinks this deal makes the Cavs better (it wouldn't), but he HAS to know that sending Love to Boston without us giving up any of our main core and perhaps a 2018 Nets pick would make us that much tougher of an out for him and his Cavs come playoff time.

Not going to be a popular decision around here but if we can land Love with the 2018 nets pick being the main piece we have to take it. The guy would fit perfectly in our system and would stretch the floor to make this team almost unguardable on the offensive end. He's a much better fit here then he is in Cleveland.

I don't know.  Seems the Love ship has sailed.  I don't feel he plays to his stats, there are durability issues, and he is signed through 2020 (albeit player options the last season).

So is the idea that we send the BKN 2018 pick to NYK, Melo to Cleve and Love to Boston (I know more pieces are needed)?  I would rather hold on to the pick and see what else may come up.

Yeah I agree. Frank Isola usually writes crap. Sam Amick already turned the report down so it is stupid to keep discussing as a possibility.

I dont really understand how anyone could take this rumor seriously.

You have a defending championship team trading away its 3rd best player thats fits their system perfectly for a much older worse player that doesn't fit nearly as well.

It's embarrassing that users of this forum actually thought this was real.

I am not so sure it James is actually pushing it.   He may have told his friend that yeah, it would be great to play with you.

Or it could be leaked but the Knicks hoping to create a rift that leads to the trade.

One guy from NY is reporting it.  The rest of the NBA insiders are saying the opposite.
