HAHA that was one massive & glorious full circle rant

Maybe a hometown discount from Isaiah Thomas becomes a distinct possibility after Paul Pierce day.

I am willing to forget about Doc, and I had, but he was here today. We should be able to attack him twice a year as a compromise.

Poor Jerebko.

I guess Zeller is off the hook for giving Al the concussion as rumored.

Marcus Smart almost made an unnatural act on his three pointer.

Crowder definitely gave a Clipper an illegal push towards the end. Keep it clean, guys.

I'm not a big football fan but will watch the Super Bowl.

I guess as long as stay healthy, we are the real deal top five or so NBA. Horford and Amir both looked five years younger. I wish Olynyk would shoot more instead of dishing it out for three pointers, like in the last couple minutes. I don't really care if we can't put together 48 minutes. It's about winning by at least one point.

The Clippers are going in the wrong direction. Doc failed. He's okay. He coached one title. I'm sure at some point he plans to go back to t.v. announcing, then wait for the next super team on paper coaching opening.

With a healthy squad the Clippers are better but certainly not by much.

Doc was a very good coach, not great, but very good. He is a god-awful GM though.

After Doc's class move today, I harbor no ill will towards the guy. I'll cheer for him, PP, and the Clippers so long as they are not playing the Celtics.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

I agree , CP3 ..still the most clever with the ball .....but he and Blake both have lost that youthful extra that Jaylen Brown has.

The clips haved aged a lot .  Crawford is flat out old ,  Blake looks weary , CP3 is nearing a decline , if not all ready .  Jordon peaked and is what he is.

They just don't have the swagger in their steps like years past to me.

Doc did just fine in Boston. Good with veteran players. Not a coach who likes to play rookies. Wyc cut the legs from under him the year after the Championship by drawing the line on spending. They didn't want to pay Posey and Perkins. Two key role players. Powe was another guy they let go. Good offensive rebounder. Granted Posey got some crazy offer which was hard to match, but they didn't replace him. They were weakened further by key injuries to KG, Perk and Bradley (remember that shoulder went out when they had the Heat beat?)

The only thing I didn't like about Doc is he overplayed his starters when his bench shrunk. Especially Allen in his mid 30s. Ray should have been 6th man off the bench his last couple years, which is what Riley had him do in Miami. KC Jones had a similar problem with the late 80s/early 90s teams. That GM Red picked to succeed him didn't give them a bench that Larry said they needed, which shortened the careers of McHale (foot) and Bird (back). Plus he traded Ainge, a starter, for two pugs.

Ainge has got to be careful about preserving his bench depth. He let Turner get away for big money, a key role player they miss. He also let Sullinger get away, and that created a hole in their rebounding. You shrink your bench, you increase your starter minutes, and they ultimately break down. I'm worried about IT for that.

Great points here about the too-easy-to-overlook importance of the bench. This bears watching going forward.

Never understood the Doc hate. He was as responsible for title 17 as any other individual and more than most. His ability to get three vets to sacrifice their offensive games and buy into Ubuntu while coaching the best defense seen in this league in the last 20 years was amazing. He has never been given his just due on this site by most. He will be a Hall of Fame coach.

When our playoff record is 2-8 under Stevens, gloating over a regular season victory with no Chris Paul appears to be particularly low rent. How about actually accomplishing something first?

In the long term deal.....Doc did Celtics a favor by leaving .

It seemed kinda low and unloyal at the time .....

But n the end , we got a much better coach .....one who may replace Pops as the best coach in the league one day and can return Celtics to glory days .

I sad somethin like 5 years ago and I will repeat once more: Doc is an overrated coach. Boston gave him a lot of credit and raised his value, but the reality says he's an average coach. Something like Nate McMillan or Mike Malone
