Don't worry, we'll still see all our Jimmy Butler, DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin and other rumors and trade articles here on Celticsblog for legit stars come the trade deadline (as is annual tradition).

But ultimately I imagine Ainge will stay the course (keeping the Nets Picks and strong young core intact), but he could make a small move preferably for a rebounder (and interior presence) to help make hopefully a fairly deep playoff run (second round or ECF even).

Guys on expiring deals or cheap contracts could be in play, and I'm sure Ainge wouldn't mind moving some low profile picks (second rounders) and an expiring (if needed) to get that guy.

For this team to progress past the first round this season, and possibly even make the ECF, they need some interior help (especially rebounding). We were lucky the Lakers missed a lot of shots because the rebounding last night was cringeworthy and we gave the Lakers like 3-4 extra possessions at times on just one sequence (UNACCEPTABLE).

So what do you guys think?

Hate to say it---but I think Sac. will sober up and trade Cousins, instead of giving him a $40+ Million a year contact.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I doubt it. Maybe they decide to this summer.

But now they still have this delusion that they could make the 8 seed.

Also, I think they've said they will offer Cousins the extension regardless and Cousins has said to the media that he will accept it.

Although it is true the Suns-Kings have discussed a deal but I highly doubt anything materializes there.

Plus not sure if Ainge wants a potential locker room cancer like Cousins. I would love him but depends on Ainge too, and of course the price.

I agree. Ainge has always been the type to explore deals or trades that are either suitably profitable for the Celtics without long term restrictions, or negative afflictions that hinder long term success, or just short term deals that he sees fit.

Ibaka seems like a type of player Ainge would actually go for. I don't think the Magic is going to budge without at least getting more than just a late first round pick, considering what they've given up, but considering the amount of time left, they need to take action now.

I'm thinking a good smaller trade would be

Rozier, Young and AJ
for
Gibson and Mirotic

Bulls get a PG they like and expirings. C's get playoff help for this year and clear up Guard log jam.

I doubt the Bulls have much interest in adding Rozier to Rondo, Grant, Carter-Williams, and Canaan.

Yet you have to think about next year and injuries if you are the Bulls. Canaan and Grant may not stick. Rondo and MCW are gone.

I think a lot of people are underestimating Ainge. The blockbuster trade is coming. We hold all the cards right now, especially with the Nets having basically solidified the worst record in the league in a year where the draft class is projected to be historically deep and talented.

Agree. We don't need him to be watching the games with Avery.

i think ainge will make a deal...he knows our rebounding is going to kill us in the playoffs...and we will need one more scorer...teams in the playoffs will stop thomas just like last year if he has no help...horford will help but still need one more.

we have the scorers we just need to incorporate the drive and kick out scheme into IT's offence. Crowder, Bradley, Horford, Olynyk, Rozier can shoot the three.

Ibaka could push for a playoff team move telling them he wil not resign... you do not trade a first round pick for rental...zeller young and a second rounder for ibaka is a fair trade.... they will give him a chance to compete... bring in nader too
Thank you
