If Isaiah Thomas had scored two more points in the win over the Lakers he would have become the first player in Boston Celtics history to have scored 40 points in three consecutive games, it's amazing how Thomas has made these scoring efforts look....effortless.

did the team know this? He had at least two chances but the team was not even trying to get him the ball. I wanted him set that mark.

Has anyone ever had 38 or more in straight games for the Celtics?
Yup

Even if they did, you get the win first, and the record second.

LA rushed IT the last couple possessions and IT made the right decisions getting rid of the ball to the open player. It sucks he didn't get it, but the win is more important.

Win was in the bag the last two possessions. Of course you get the win first, the referees took away that one handed basket he had earlier in the fourth otherwise we would be talking history here, lol.

It's a pretty arbitrary stat. Glad the team didn't try to force it. Or we're even aware of it.

Right on.  I find it so annoying when announcers focus on such weird, arbitrary stats.  Jim Nantz is the worst at it.

Agree. Wins only. Remainder is irrelevant.

I'd add though that this near-record is a reflection of a team that isn't going anywhere. Not with 1 player doing the scoring. The guy is a selfish ball hog in the fourth that just happens to be a great shot maker.

Fun to watch though. Like the Globetrotters without the jokes.

He dominates the ball, for sure, but the team is generally in trouble late when doesn't take over. I can't attach the word, "selfish", to that. He also moves quickly into the offense and works off the ball. It's not like he's pounding the ball for 15 seconds and then taking a shot.

I'm glad they didn't push for the record. It's a sign of a good team when they don't care about that kind of stuff. Probably weren't even aware of it.

I do not get how people can continue criticizing a player who has carried the team on his back while the team is winning and the second scorer is out. Stop disrespecting this guy because he is small compared to other players, and because the GMs underestimated him and drafted him last in the draft.

Rather than criticize him yall should be encouraging the other players to step up so that when the rest of the league start to bog down on IT they can step up to make those shots, just like Paxon and Kerr did for Jordan, Elie, Smith, and Cassell did for Olajuwon.

IT has made it patently clear he is a scorer, and he has also committed to adding Curry range into his arsenal. It is time for the rest of the team to be ready for those easy assist. IT is going to command double teams.

Very glad to not see late 90's ISO-ball too much, but it's not like he's bailing out the team late in the clock with all that Q4 shooting. I'm not sure we get better by watching him scramble.

Honestly, I think it's partly because he isn't long enough to get passes off sometimes, esp when defense tightens.

Sad isn't it. No matter what it's about or how positive the outcome people will always find the cloud in a clear blue sky.  I've come to realize that certain people only say negative things or attempt to find negatives in so many positives simply because they like the attention of a debate. Not that everything HAS to be positive, but to say blantly derogatory statements is someone seeking attention.  Is Lebron a selfish ball hog? Is Russ? Is Harden? Would anyone be looking to get rid of either of those 3 if we had them? BTW, Harden's defense is WORSE that IT's and he's NOT 5'9...would people here be looking to trade him as much as IT's name is mentioned? I am GRATEFUL for having someone on our team that demands attention, is a threat to get buckets at any point and stays within the flow of what Brad is looking for in a playmaker. I love his confidence and his cockiness. More importantly the TEAM appreciates his play and ultimately that's all that really matters!

You have watched Isaiah this season, and this is what you have seen?

I find that utterly rediculous.
