No one of substance has been discussed besides Carmelo who I can't imaging the Celtics see as a good move at this stage in his career.

I'm predicting it now. Celtics will trade for Jimmy Butler...

Package: Brooklyn '18/Jaylen Brown/Marcus Smart/Amir Johnson for Jimmy Butler

We retain Brooklyn '17 and draft Fultz. New lineup:

Thomas
Bradley
Butler
Crowder
Horford

I agree. I think that is pretty much what Ainge will offer which sucks. It's really on the Bulls court at this point. They'll get one Brooklyn pick and Brown.

I don't get the infatuation with Butler. I've seen him fail in guarding elite players on multiple occasions. I think it would be a mistake to trade that much for him. I would do it for Paul George though. IMO, even though stats don't bare it out THIS YEAR, I would still take George. He is an amazing defender and has proven to be an elite scorer in the playoffs.

I like this trade, without giving up Jaylen Brown. I also don't want to give up Marcus Smart, but think his ceiling is lower than Brown's. I'm a fan of Jimmy Butler, but I think he is becoming overrated. Tell me how good player x, y, z is when they start winning games. Until then, I'm not interested in an overpay.  There's a chance Jaylen Brown will be better than Butler.

If Brown and Smart are in the trade, I wouldn't want to include a BKN pick.

Is a core of IT, Fultz/Tatum, Butler, and Horford good enough to beat GS? I'm not so sure.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I'm too much of a homer so I would say no. I like Jaylen and would rather see how he progresses. The 2018 pick also looks like gold and we will have our shot at a legit big finally in that draft.

Giving up on JB this early would be dumb. The Chauncey trade was a ridiculously impatient move. Danny needs to learn from others' mistakes.

No one of substance has been discussed besides Carmelo who I can't imaging the Celtics see as a good move at this stage in his career.

That won't be enough to get Butler.

Not enough for the Bulls, and too much for the C's if you ask me. Again, why trade all your future value for a 'compete now' move ? Good job, you've now got a starting five who can have the honor to lose to Cleveland or Golden State. Yay.

Keep Jaylen. He will be super good.

Teams are going to ask for too much and hold out on Danny like happened during last years draft. And he'll go ahead and draft 7 guys at once before taking a lowball.

I would do that trade with absolutely no hesitation.

I would take Butler over George, personally.  I'm just not as high on Paul George as most people seem to be.

But alas I would make that above trade for either of them.

If I had a young Chauncey Billups right now, knowing full well who he was going to become - I would trade him for Jimmy Butler.

Nobody on this forum knows that Brown is really going to be that good.  He may become great, he may struggle to hold a starting spot throughout his career. Nobody knows.

If Danny used the same way of thinking back in 08 we never would have traded Jefferson for KG, and we wouldn't have banner #17.

Butler is a really, really good player.  Not prime KG good, but he's not far off prime Paul Pierce good.  Finals MVP or no Finals MVP - Chauncey Billups was never in his life as good as Butler is now.

Then we should take a pass on a guy who doesn't particularly meet a position of need, and who can't drag his team to the playoffs. If people can use that excuse against Boogie, we might as well use it against him.

Yeah, the State of Perpetual Rebuild is such fun, obsessing over Zizic, Abdel Nader, wondering who the reach is that Ainge will snag with the second pick in the draft and things like that.

I like Butler - but I'd also look hard at lesser moves, like Bogut, Vucevic and finding out whether Ibaka is cooked or in a terrible situation.
