I'd say Towns all things considered. I think he'll figure out how to be an elite defender, he's too good not to get it eventually.

Based on what they've shown on the court so far I'd say Embiid, but the injury risk is there and I basically have a heart attack every time he goes to the floor. Towns hasn't had an issue like that.

Thanks for clarifying that. My bad regarding the all-rookie awards.

I think a debate about who is the best prospect among Porzingis, Embiid, Towns, and Jokic would allow for a more focused conversation.
Well I think that's what happened anyway.  I had faith we would get there.   ;)

I edited the poll to be more complete, less subjective on my part.  It will be a cool list to come back to in 3 years.  :P

Thanks for the reply and adding Jokic.

I wonder how many ppl would have voted him if he were available from the start.

I voted Towns, and I wouldn't change my vote.

Embiid easily. Nobody else even comes close. He's already the best center in the league in his rookie year while on a minutes restriction after not having played basketball for two years. Just imagine how great he will be by year 3.

Cousins is better, Embiid has serious injury concerns. He could never even play past year 3, so yeah, others come pretty close.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

I really doubt that Embiid is already better than DMC. But if you have evidence to back up this claim, I would be grateful if you shared.

That is a very good list of young players with fantastic futures.

For me, there are a clear top 3: Towns, Embiid, and Jokic.

For me, it's a toss-up between Towns and Jokic.  Towns has better physical tools, therefore is more likely to be a plus defender (neither are currently).  But Jokic is so good on offense it scary.

That said, if Embiid proves to stay healthy, he's the best mix of both offense and defense.

I like to think of it as tiers of potential more than individual ratings:

Superstars: KAT, Embiid, Porzingis, Booker (people are sleeping on this kid - can flat out ball)

Perennial All-Stars (5 or more appearances): Jokic, Brown, Mudiay, Russell, Simmons, Turner

All-Stars: Ingram

Of course, not everyone will reach their potential. I think if KAT and Embiid stay healthy, then they'll be superstars pretty much guaranteed. Porzingis and Booker are less of a sure thing, but both of them have top-10 player in the league potential.

The next group is much less certain. I think all of them can be perennial All-Stars with 5 or more selections, though I could also see them all not reaching their potential for one reason or another and only making a couple of All-Star games.

Finally, I think Ingram is clearly the weakest of the bunch. I just don't see his ceiling as anything more than being an All-Star a couple of years. He seems to be Rudy Gay all over again to me.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Jokic may have gotten a few more than only one vote, but I don't think the ranking would have been any different, just don't see him at the level of KAT and Embiid.  BTW, I also added Ingram.

I think the Jaylen Brown votes reflect built-in Celtic fandom bias.  Of course, I'd be thrilled if he actually had the best career on this list, but there's not evidence to support that (yet).

He's definitely not as good offensively, but I'd wager it's really close when you look at their defensive impact. Embiid's a Gobert level defender...
