Taking off my green glasses this is what I see:
A team with 3 starters, 3 role/bench players, 2 developmental player and the rest are easily replaced.
Starters:
Thomas- 2nd tier all-star (trade while stock is high?)
Horford - solid starter (not a good as I thought, weak rebounder and does not take over games, a #3, sometimes a #2, hardly ever a #1)
Bradley - undersized, but became a quality shooter and defender (injured too often - would trade considering guard heavy draft)
This unfortunately gives us an undersized back-court.
Bench/role players:
Crowder - 3&D forward, belongs on the bench. The new Posey. (lost his mojo this year)
Smart - defensive combo guard, yes once every 20 or 25 games he'll have an offensive breakout. (no consistent offense to speak of, maybe a Tony Allen-like ceiling, definitely not a starter)
Olynyk - decent big man off the bench. Don't believe he will amount to more than that but willing to give him a longer look as a starter in place of Amir Johnson. (also gets injured too often. Wouldn't over-pay to keep him. Lots of long distance bigs out there these days.)
Developmental:
Jaylen Brown - would like to see him start to promote his growth.
Rozier - not sure what we have here yet.
The rest:
A Johnson - trade fodder
Zeller - just another big man, time has run out - Zizic takes his spot next year.
Mickey - end of bench, time has run out - Yabu takes his spot next year
Jerebko - probably the best of the bunch. decent end of rotation player, but replaceable.
Jackson - scrub
Young - scrub - Nader has this spot next year.
Green - extra wing man as the 12-15 roster filler.
What I would do:
Start Olynyk and JBrown. Horford, Olynyk, and Brown with Thomas and Bradley. for a solid 20 game stretch. Gives the C's one more look at Olynyk to see if he can become anything more than a bench player. Also speeds up Jaylen's growth.
The bench is now, (G)Smart, Rozier, Green, Crowder, Jerebko, Johnson, Zeller.
The needs are:
1. another serviceable big man, right now we only have 2.
2. unless Brown steps up quickly a scoring wing with size. (Melo?)
