I read a poster say that no team would take Horford on his contract.

I just like to see if there's any realistic options of players that teams would love to dump and possibly a young asset or two for Al Horford.

 Any ideas...

What is wrong with Horford's contract? Honest question.

OKC or Magic would fit in mind.

I don't think their interest in his services have wavered. He's proved exactly what he is.

I don't want to trade Horford, but I think there are close to half a dozen teams where a trade could definitely happen, especially if you're assuming the C's would be tearing down a bit in the process. Here's a *rough* idea on a potential Horford trade:

Phoenix - Horford, Crowder

Boston - Chandler, Bender and/or Chriss, 1st round picks depending upon the inclusion or exclusion of Chriss or Bender

I imagine this is the type of deal you'd see with Horford, particularly to teams with younger prospects looking for a veteran presence and to upgrade to get in the playoffs/take the next step. The Bucks, Lakers, T'Wolves, Magic, and Nuggets would all be possible destinations for him, too.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yeah, I could see the Magic, but what could OKC offer up for him?

Nope.  I'm happy to keep him.

TP Potter. But darn giving up Crowder and Horford that's rough.

I got two funny trades for Horford.

Evan Turner plus filler. I want my old team back!

For Brook Lopez and the 2019 unprotected first and Levert.

And say goodbye to any real good FA coming our way for a long time if you trade him....

Horford is averaging 15ppg, 7rpg and 5 apg compared to 15 ppg, 7 rpg and 3 apg the season before.  These numbers are similar to what he did the previous year also.  His shooting % is down but he's shooting more 3's.  Basically he's giving you exactly what you should have expected from him.

At this time no trades for Horford make sense. He was a top 2 free agent signing this year. He has played just a little over 30 games for us. You want to never have a top name free agent sign with the Celtics in the Ainge as GM era, then trade Horford because thats what will happen. No free agent would ever trust signing in Boston again.

And for those of you who don't believe this, think about the human factor in the whole situation. Players are people. They have families. They have kids. When a top free agent signs with a team he is making that decision based on staying with that team through his contract and possibly beyond. He is making that decision not only based on money but where the team is, how the city fits into his family's lifestyle, and how happy the family would be. Having to uproot a family after just a few months would be traumatic to his loved ones.

Other players will especially see this side of the situation. They won't want to possibly subject their wife and kids to this possibility. Simply put, no one would trust Ainge again on the free agent market. It would be a tremendous blow to this franchise's ability to attain the best talent.

Give Horford a couple years. If things arent working out, then I think agents and players would understand. But just a few months....no way they would.

Horford does everything he is supposed to do (expect rebound more efficiently)...
High percentage low post shooter, FT%, passes well for big man, can step out and shoot the three, block shots...

Problem: HE IS PLAYING OUT OF POSITION... hes too old and a bit to slow to play the 5, not to mention in most cases undersized... His contract is fine, Im sure he will continue to slightly regress in the upcoming years but thats the price you pay with a rising salary cap...

Horford and Smart for Love. I thought Bradley would be too much.

I wouldn't do that trade. I'm not high on Phoenix's bigs tbh. Bender is young so he could be a good role player still. I'm not a fan of Chriss at all.
